Safari 2005 Window Crank Failure

On my rear side windows the bottom third of each window cranks out by turning a 3” round crank knob. On both windows the knob will easily crank until the window initially pops out ½” and then the crank knob totally freezes. From the outside I can pull on the window easily opening it to full extension but it reverts to its initial ½” pop-open spot because the springs are still functioning.
At this point I can close the windows using the crank knob with no problem.
Any ideas why the crank knob freezes?
How can I remove the inside screen so I can investigate further.

Thanks,

Hi, I haven't had that problem with mine; Possibly the the gear mechanism is stripped.

Perhaps spray a little silicon into the mechanism, and have someone turn the knob while you lift the glass gently. That might free it up.
