Rusted Window Frame Bar/Pin
Currently restoring our windows and severals pins holding the frames together are completely rusted out and will not budge. I have attached a photo of one rusted pin and one normal one.
Does any have any tips on removing that pin from the frame so I can separate the frames? Also, any ideas on where I can find replacement pins?

No luck! I may take them into an auto repair glass place and see if they can take a look.

I had the same problem and didn't really do any research before taking my windows apart so I ended up breaking two metals bars And while researching how to fix it a lot of threads mentioned success with using Kroil oil, apply it excessively on and wait for a while, apparently it dissolves the rust completely and you are able to separate the window frame without any problems.
Let me know if it works! Good luck!

Sorry I missed this thread, but sovereign69 is right on. I used Kroil oil on a bunch of stuff getting the 55 renovated. Works really well. Good luck

I used a hack saw to cut the pins and then an air hammer with a chisel that I ground down to fit the groove. Used lots of penetrating oil and then the air hammer took them out quickly. You can buy new pins at Vintage Gasket Supply or if you have a grinder and some time make them using 1/4” stock or 1/8” stock depending on which pin you need.

Replacement window pins
Has anyone been able to source the pins that fit in the window? I can't seem to find them.

I’m over a month late to this, but I’ll post anyway for future searches.
The few locking rods that I couldn’t get out I also cut. I used a jewelers saw to remove the least possible aluminum from the sash. I make jewelry so I had it on hand. A coping saw or hack saw surely would work too.
I couldn’t find replacement rods. Mine measured 1/4” x 3/16” x 2 1/2” or so each. I did find 1/4” x 1/4” x 12” square aluminum rods on Amazon. I bought this & used my sander & course grit sandpaper to remove the extra 1/16” material from one side. Cut to length it worked great.
I think these pins, riveted in place, are important for holding the sashes in tight tension, so it was worth the trouble for me.
Good luck with your project!

I am in that same spot. Something I learned is that with the glass is out, you can use a torch to heat the sash bar, then dip it or spray it to cool it. It helps it to begin to break loose. I had success getting one out today like that. Thanks to this thread though, I will be getting some Kroil and using Murman117's tip and grinding down some chisels.
The bars are called Key Stock. VTGasket has them but, if you can drill them out, you can find the sizes needed on Amazon and Ebay. Thanks for the thread.

There are two options I used for replacement pins: Vintage Gasket Supply has both pin size for sale. I also picked up some 1/4” steel stock, cut to size and then used my grinder to fit to the window. Lots more work but you don’t have to wait a month. For getting the pins out mine were locked solid so I used a hacksaw to cut carefully until they cut and then it was easy to get the frame off the window. To get the half pins out I used a compressor, air hammer and a chisel that I ground down to fit the groove and after liberally spraying with penetrating oil held the frame in one hand and the air hammer in the other and the pins came out. Some easier then other. There my be better options but my pins were fused with the aluminium.
