Replacement glass too thick for existing hinge?

Needed replacement glass for one of the kitchen windows in our 67 GT. The old one was shattered by vandals. I think the dimensions (it's not in front of me) are roughly 16" w x 24" h.

I ordered one from Inland - the curved kind. Removed the part of the hinge that contained all the broken glass and associated old silicone adhesive. Cleaned out the slot where the new glass goes, and the glass ~appears~ to be too thick to go in the slot. It looks like you could almost tap the hinge piece on with some light hammer taps, but that's not working either, and I don't want to break the glass. Is it possible Andy sent me the wrong glass? i.e., replacement glass that's too thick to fit into the existing slot in the hinge piece?

I had the same issue with our 66. We had to replace the front and rear. We found the 1/8" glass fabricated today is a hair too thick for the hinge piece. I used my drill with an 1/8" drill bit and ran it down the slot perpendicular to the slot. It enlarged the slot to 1/8". I reinstalled the slotted hinge, ran a bead of 3m sealer in the slot, slid the glass in place and closed the window. This way I could check for even margins and adjust if needed. Left the window closed for a couple of days to make sure the sealant was set. Then I had my wife open it while I hid around the corner. Good luck. Bubba

Thanks for that Bubba. Turns out the folks at Vintage Trailer Supply have a nicely illustrated page on their website on "66-68 Airstream Glass Installation" that has you do just that. They suggest using a 9/64" bit, but same concept as what you recommended above. Will do that first thing tomorrow. Thanks again.
