Removing Windows

Hi All,
I would like some ideas from you all about how to remove windows and frames from one Airstream to another. Some of them are the same size, so do I drill our the rivits from each window or what?
I really think this is possible as how do you replace a window that breaks. I would welcome any suggestions. Thanks.

How you replace a window, depends on what window, and what year trailer. Does the window open? Is it a fixed window? Stack window? Vista view window? Wrap window? Wing window?

Changing window from one year to another depends on what years are the trailers?

Hi Andy, Most of these windows open. One is a Stacked Window ( meaning that upper window opens and the lower one does not) or vise versa. No Vista View windows. No Wrap windows, and no Wing windows .
Windows are being supplied from 67' Ambassador and the recepient is a 65'
Safaril. No, I will not being selling anything else from Ambassador until I change all items needed for the Shasta. Then I will probably list the Ambassador as is or will use it for Storage. Thanks.

I have just bought an 81 Airstream Exella II. It needs a new front window. Is there an exploded view of this area so I can determine what parts, brackets, gaskets I will need to repair ?

The exploded view would help alot !!

I think this is a big problem. Aren't the 67 windows the curved Corning glass and the 65 windows are square with a frame on the glass? These are completely different in dimension and the nature of the shell-mounted frame.

You cannot easily use 67 windows in a 65 trailer.

The 67 window frames are within the shell. You would have to loosen a considerable part of the window sheet metal to get the window frame within the shell.

Next problem would be how your going to hide the marks on the sheet metal that the 65 windows have caused.

But, to each his own.

Is there a how-to on changing windows, preferable in a 1967 Caravell? I have a broken window for which I got a replacement from Andy. BUT, I'm stumped at how to change it.

Instructions come with the windows.

If for any reason you did not receive it, please provide via a PM, an e-mail address or fax number and we will get it to you Monday, or sooner, if I get to the office earlier.

Briefly, the hinge comes apart from the inside. You should see several screws on the inside of the hinge. Removing those screws, releases the inside of the hinge.

Instructions were sent to you along with a drill bit, in a plastic 3" x 5" package, in May 2007, along with a gasket, a tube of adhesive and your new window.

Please call us if you cannot find the plastic envelope.
