Plastic window positioner broken

I'm working on my windows on my 72 overlander and the bottom position of all 7 window opener brackets are broken. I have found replacements available, $14/set.
My question is to people use the bottom bracket or mostly the upper two? I am using the 2nd position and it seems the windows stick out a lot. It looks easy to replace the brackets. Easier than the floor, plumbing, black tank, etc. Thks
