Opening the windows from the inside

Hi friends: I have a terrible time opening the windows from the inside with those black pull knobs - is there a secret??? They are hard to pull up and get set in the slot. Any suggestions? Thanks, Kathy

Are the windows stuck closed? If so, go outside and take a credit card and carefully run it between the glass and the rubber strip. That should free it up.

And after you get them freed up make sure to coat the rubber window seal on a regular basis. I use pure silicone every few months. They will still occasionally stick.

The big ones can be heavy and hard to handle. Might be easier to just unlatch them, then go outside and lift the window with one hand and place the supports with the other. Yes do use silicone or 303 UV Protectant on the rubber seals or they can "bond" to the glass. Note also the latches are adjustable, should be snug enough to keep wind-driven water out but not overly tight so they are hard to use or stress the glass and seals.

+1 on the 303 stuff! Pry carefully. On e the window begins to separate from gasket, do not rush. Clean gasket and window glass. Apply lube and smooth without without leaving globs.

Mine are clean and lubed but I agree, the bigger windows are hard to open with those little black handles because of a lack of leverage. I find it easier to just open them from outside, especially the big one at the dining table.

I do the same and use the help of a wooden popsicle stick between the window and rubber gasket to break the bond.

When we first got our AS my wife decided to open one of the side windows on our 2008 27FB. She apparently torqued one side of the black knobs more than the other....Bingo! the window shattered. She now grabs the knobs while I gently lift the window from the outside. Team work, problem solved!
