new windows on a vintage

Whilst mulling over the options available for a new layout in the Sovereign I started thinking about sourcing some additional windows. I kind of got side-tracked and wondered if anyone had tried brand new units on vintage trailer? I'm not convinced I could pull it off but it might work, even at $300 a unit.

I remember an Airstream owner that had much newer windows installed on her 1963 Overlander.
The Vista View and stack windows were available in 1968 or so trailers, and they have the same body contours as your trailer, so in theory they should work.Whether or not they will look "right" with the older flat-pane windows is another question.

Thinking along the same lines

I was also thinking of replacing a couple of windows. I have a 1964 Safari with jalousie windows. Most of the panes in one of them have been replaced with warped plexiglass, leaving huge gaps plus a broken opener. I'm not a fan of these windows here in Oregon. They let too much airflow through.

The most practical thing(in terms of time and money) is probably just to repair them and live with their shortcomings.

I'm curious if anyone could share an experience of replacing jalousie windows with a solid pane? From comparing my airstream to photos of other people's Safari's of the same vintage it looks like my jalousie windows are wider than solid pane windows. I understand that jalousie windows were an option, not standard. Does anyone know if the window types would be interchangable?
