HELP...Window Pains!

I'm a new guy who is in the process of bringing a 61 Overlander with twin bunk beds back to life. Unfortunately, one of the bunk inner window frames is gone an has been replace with a plate of aluminum. I can't imagine why someone would have done this, but I'd like to repair the window properly. I'm pretty sure that I will never find an exact fit replacement, but this frame seemes to be the same width as a front or rear exit window (about 39"). If I can find an exit window, I think I can cut it down to restore my window. Therefore, I've been looking high and low for one of those for a couple of months now. I've posted classifieds, watched eBay religiously, called a half dozen likely sources around the country, and have had zero luck I'm beginning to lose hope and I thought I'd try asking the forum if you guys have any other ideas on how I can source this Hehr Hall mark 12 window frame. I've been very impressed with the knowledge on the forum so far, so I hoping you all might have a suggestion! Thanks

Do you need just the window frame that holds the glass, or the Frame that rivits to the body as well? Please show a picture of the window in question.

Looks like a nice trailer. I like the single jalousie window in front of the door. That's a nice touch. Any more pictures available especially of the interior?

If you'll look at your window frame, the one that is rivetted to the skin, in the middle along the bottom, you should find a series of numbers. As an example, mine read HEHR 1009 1928. The 1009 is the style of window and the 1928 indicates 19" tall and 28" wide. This will help you in you search. What does yours read?

When I picked up this trailer a few months ago, the PO had done quite a bit of work to the inside, mostly pretty poor quality. Luckily, most of the original interior was still mostly present, although removed. The trailer does have a few soft spots in the floor, so I am in the process of gutting the trailer the rest of the way to replace the floor. I have attached a recent picture of the interior and it's data plates for your reference. It seems to be an unusual configuration, not really like most other Overlanders I have seen. There is a dinnette in the very front with the kitchen on the street side, twin bunk beds (street and curb sides) and a rear bath. My wife and I really like the interior layout and plan on restoring it as it was when new. Have you seen many Overlanders like this one? I assume it's an Overlander anyway...

The window part numbers are located at the bottoms of the frames and are as follows:

Front/Rear Escape Window: HEHRL1299 01030
Bunk Windows (4): HEHRL1299 01041
Front Street Side Window: HEHRL1299 01031
Kitchen Window: HEHRL1299 01032
Front Curb Side Window: Unmarked Clear View brand

The bunk window that needs to be fixed only needs the inner window frame. The outter is still attached to the trailer, although the cranks at the sides, latches at the bottom, and window screen holders have been removed as can be seen when compared with one of the intact windows (last picture).



Any help you could offer would be really apprciated!

The California models of that year went up to 26 TSS 0553, so yours was at the end of that years production.
Your Overlander is one of the rarer configurations with the over/under rear window indicating the rear bunks. Those windows aren't on to many models, so finding one may be tuff. Have you tried Colaw's? http://www.colawrvsalvage.com/

I'm in need of a window frame also - the P.O. removed the outer frame on one of my kitchen windows and just sealed a piece of glass in the outer frame. Yours looks like the P.O. at least tried!
Mines a Hehr C1229901412221185 as seen in the picture below.

Thanks for the information GP! Very interesting. I really like your trailer. Looks like a nice project. Are there others on the forum that have something similar to my configuration? I'd really like to see pictures... But perhaps that should be another posting...

I'm quite sure that I'll have to cut down a larger front or rear escape window to get what I'm after. The front and rear escape windows on my trailer are the same width as the bunk window (about 39+"). It looks like it won't be too big of a deal. I have tried Colaws, Cherokee, Inland, etc in my hunt and have thus far come up empty handed.

Have you tried AZ RV Salvage yet? They can be contacted through their webpage at: www.azrvinc.com. They have lots of used stuff. You might just get lucky.

Flyfshr - Thanks, that's my layout (except I have a dinette in the front). Unfortunately, I have already tried Arizona RV as well.

GP - Thanks for the link. I could only find 1960 Overlanders that look like mine. The 61's don't look like Flyfshr's layout for whatever reason.
