Double Pane Windows

I just bought an 81 Excella II and some of the windows have some problems. It looks like there is silica gel between the panes which looks like brown crystals. Are the windows vented to the outside at all? It looks there are some little white things that lead down to external vents at the bottom of the windows. I have one small window that the inner gasket has come loose and is floating around in there.

Perry.

That silica gel is in between the 2 panes, to keep the moisture from gathering.

However, when the gasket really goes south, the water can accumulate between the panes, especially the wing windows.

The windows are not intentionally vented, in any way.

So how do you fix a sick window? You replace it or take it apart and clean and reseal it? I know it is not a user maintainable item.

Some of the double pane windows can be taken apart and cleaned. Those are the opening windows.

The non-opening windows, pose a different problem.

If you remove them from the trailer, you might be able to get them apart. There is a steel bar that holds them together.

You can clean them ok, but the gasket is not available. So, that means your on your own.

But, if you find a gasket that you feel might work, then you encounter the issue of reassembly. Again, that steel bars offers many problems, none of which are nice.

Or, you can replace the double pane window, with a single pane. You expend more dollars, but far less cuss words.

Well this is way on down the road as far as my do list goes. When I get time I will pull the window and see what I can see. I have access to a machine shop so I maybe able to come up with a fix. The Airstream is the closest thing I can find to a rocket since they aren't doing anything here at NASA anymore.
