Bathroom Porthole Window Interest?

I made my own porthole window for our 2018 27 FC after seeing both the lack of availability and then the price if you could get one. I am curious if there is anyone interested in this if I were to offer it as a kit. The overall dimensions are 9 inches wide x 19 inches tall. My design is all aluminum rather than the one I have seen from Airstream with a plastic trim piece on the inside of the door. I used 1/4 inch thick clear polycarbonate(Lexan), for the “glass” and sandblasted it for a frosted look. If I offered this kit it would use Philips head Stainless steel screws to fasten from both sides of the door rather than the binder post design I used for my prototype. It is designed to fit a 3/4 inch thick door. A hole is cut in the door and the window face and inside trim are screwed into the door. I am working on the cost and other details but wanted to get some feedback before moving forward. It would certainly be less than the $500.00+ I see from “high sky Rv parts”.

I appreciate any comments.
Thank you,
Ron

I mistakenly stated it is designed for a 3/4 inch thick door. The window is currently sized for a 1 inch thick door.

Sure, i would be interested as well. Curious, why change from the binding posts to screws?

Agreed. The Chicago screws look better.

The binding posts required drilling 1/4" holes through the door. This was time consuming and fussy to keep the holes straight.

Changing to screws eliminates having to drill, except for maybe a very small pilot hole from both sides to start each screw.

Thank you for your interest and comments.

I like the Chicago screws better as well, and thought they looked more like rivets from the outside. I suppose I could offer both types easy enough, but was trying to make installation a bit easier.

Thank you for the comments.

We come through your area from time to time on our way to Alanson. Maybe I could hand deliver one sometime.

Thank you,

Great Idea Ron!

I like the idea! Pleasing to the eye and a great way to see if the WC is occupied. I’m expecting our new camper the week after next. I have to see if it’ll “fit” with the decor the camper comes in. I’ll save this posting for further consideration.
