Smile '72 27' International No Screens

Hi Folks:

Newbie here. I'm hoping you can steer me in a good direction. I have no screens on "The Hotel". I'm not really sure how screens work either.

Are they a separate item that is framed, or do they somehow directly attached to the windows?

Thanks for all your help.

Status: Owned the AS for three weeks. All the interior is out, 2/3 of the flooring out. Next task: frame repair!

There should be a frame riveted to the inside of the window that has a groove around the perimeter in which the screen and spline attach. Presumably someone has just removed the screens as they've torn, without replacing them and the frames are still in place. You can buy screen material and a roll of spline (make sure you get the right diameter that will fit into the groove on the frame) and a spline tool. Then, do a search fro window screen replacement on Youtube to see how it's done (the process is exactly the same for residential windows). If you're not sure if you have the frame, take a picture of your windows from the inside and post here and I'll be able to tell you.

I found a picture of one of my windows that shows the frame which is white with the rounded corners. I've added a red arrow pointing to the groove where the rubber spline is seated, holding the screaming in place. Hope this helps.

Missing interior window trim

Thanks Cam for the image.

That explains it. It looks like I didn't get any of the trim pieces with my AS. The only window trim I did get is aluminum and only for the two non-operational window in the lounge area.

So next question - Best place to find replacement interior window trim!

Thanks!

Brek
