1/4 Turn Lock Screws

Does anyone know where I could get the 1/4 turn twist locking screws (not sure what the correct name is) that hold the the corner rock guards in place as shown in the attached photos? As you can see I have one that is missing.

Thanks!

Hans,
Do a search here for several threads like this:

https://www.airforums.com/forums/f46...ml#post2373532

It may be worth your time to retrofit how the guards are secured. Briefly, the fix is to remove the bracket holding the rubber bumper and install an alternative fastener that is not made of Swiss Cheese

Above thread link includes all necessary hardware and good instructions.

Out of Doors Mart & Aircraft Spruce are good 'bookmarks' for AS owners, among others.

I just called Airstream and they sent me some for free. That may not be possible today as they are so busy.

Question Replace a screen

We got locked out of our 2006 Bambi (yes it happened when one of us exited the door and tripped the lock. Tape now covers the sliding lock to prevent reoccurrence). We had to cut through a screen on the side window to get into the trailor. How do we replace the screen?

Got my spares at High Sky RV Parts https://highskyrvparts.com/new-airstream-parts. Also got a spare part that the screw goes into.

You would be better creating a new thread. Since you cut the screen there are 3 choices.

1 The most expensive and probably the longest time, appointment at dealer

2 Find a local company that does screen repair (on houses, maybe boat awnings whatever these aren't special)

3 Buy some screen and a spline tool (available in most hardware and big box stores) remove spline, pry end out then gently pull, should be able to reuse spline (rubber string like piece holding screen in groove) and remove whatever is left of old screen, cut the new screen a couple inches bigger then needed, put over window, use spline tool to push spline and screen into groove around window trying to hold screen somewhat tight, then use a sharp utility knife to trim off access screen.
Edit; Don't pull on spline while pushing into groove or it will shrink back to original length and possibly pull out of groove,

On the fly screen repair so a rip or cut won't ruin your trip. Use a scrap of the fiberglass window screen from a residential window screen repair or get a small new pice from a store- 2x3 feet doesn't cost much. Cut the hole you have neatly with scissors so it's oval or rectangular with rounded corners. Cut a patch piece about a half inch bigger all the way around. Place the patch on the screen hold it flat, and hold your glue dispenser tip up against the overlap and put a medium thick bead all the way around in one shot. I use Shoe Goo from the Walmart shoelace rack but you could use clear caulking or whatever. It helps to have 4 hands for this and go out for the day while the fumes die down. Learning the part with the new screen and spline as described above is not to hard if you want to DIY when you get home.

I have got some of the Dzus fasteners but I cannot get them to engage on the top mounting points, the ones that are missing the Dzus fasteners. No matter how hard I push and twist and try to line them up correctly they will not engage and thus no secure attachment. I guess that is why the fell out in the first place.

So I'm going to try the route suggested by TooTall and make it a permanent fix. I'm not anxious to drill out the rivets but it seems pretty straight forward. Once completed I'll post an update.

Thanks for all the suggestions and ideas.
