WTB (want to buy) - Locking Pin + Chesler T-5 Locking Pin

Dear Forum,

While servicing my Chesler T-5 Door knob assembly for our '68 Overlander, I managed to miss the locking pin from flying out into "no man's land" (gravel pathway in front of our Airstream Door).

Thanks to Montanablue for providing the pics of the needed pin.

If anyone has one they are willing to part with, please let me know.

Thanks everyone!
Billy J Chase

After hours of sifting through our gravel pathway... the Airstream Gods took kindly on my and I found the $400 locking pin (cost of replacing the door knob assembly).

A big thanks to all the folks that helped me figure out what was wrong and what to look for!

Great community !

Youíre a lot luckier than I am. I park the trailers in the same spot and still lose things under and around. Take care

After several “oops”es, I now keep a good strong magnet stuck to the side of the shelves in the garage, suitable for dragging through the dirt/gravel/grass. It’s saved my bacon several times.

Ha, that was the 1st thing I went to the hardware store for, only to find out the pin was made of brass.... but I have a really nice telescoping magnetic "grabber" now! lol
Thanks!

Thanks, but Im learning very quickly, dont break anything on your vintage AS!
I found the million and one ""pin" but then found out I also lost a "Oh Sh*t"" tiny spring that keeps the locking pin extended when the door knob assembly is installed in the door.
- When the door assembly is rebuilt but not installed in the door, the door knob/latch works fine. But when I installed the door knob assembly, the door would locked up on me again, so I guess its the pressure of the inside/outside face plates when assemelbedon the door, that requires the need of this tiny spring (Ive lost track of how many times "Montanablue" has helped me on this.. but he sent me a pic that showed the locking pin AND a small spring that slides on the outside of the pin.
So.... today, is "custom spring" making day!J
Best regards,
Billy J. Chase

Glad you found the pin! I bought my door latch from Montanablue several years ago. Good luck with the spring.

Here is that pin along with a spring which i went hardware store to find. I ended up getting one which was longer and cutting it to make it work.

Ah, ok.. the spring I got was wound much tighter so I had to stretch it... I think will save time if I look at some other hardware stores for a more similar spring.

Thanks for the....what are we up to, tenth "thank you" Rick?
