What is the correct door latch and handle assy. for a 1956 Overlander?

What is the correct door latch and handle assy. for a 1956 Overlander? What do I need to be looking for to replace the residential door knob that was put on in place ot the original. A picture would be helpful along with a brand name and model. Thanks

Kirk T,

It is in fact a Barman H-20. They are very hard to find as a complete assembly. I did however see 3 of them recently for sale at the Tin Can Tourist fall rally here in Michigan 2 weeks ago. I have a spare that I bought for 50 bux last fall at TCT. The spare I have is life insurance for my 3 children, in the event that they break the original that is on my 56 Overlander. The H-20's are out there and they were used on several other brands in the mid 50's so keep looking and you will find one.

Yep, that's it..a Bargman H-20! We had the original handle part when we got our trailer, but the bezel was broken. We found a couple of partial assemblies on eBay and bought them for parts. We sent out the handles & bezels to be re-chromed and then used the parts & pieces to rebuild complete latches. Between the three partial sets, we ended up with two complete - one on the trailer and one as a back-up plus a few miscellaneous "extra" pieces for the guts.

Rebuilding Birdy's Door

Keep an eye out, you will find one or bits to assemble one with patience. As mentioned earlier, one of the best places to get these "unobtainium" parts is at a vintage rally.

If anyone has an extra Bargman H-20 or thinks they may know where one is that is for sale I need a complete assembly from inside out with latch. I am located in NW Oklahoma and am pretty remote to any rallies or swap meets. Please private message me if you think there is a chance you might run across one. Dave, you don’t happen to know the guy at the rally that had them do you? Thanks Kirk T
