Stiff door lock

What lubricant is safe to use on a stiff door lock? On that won’t harm the clear coat.

Another option is Houdini spray. Locksmiths use this stuff. I spray ours before each trip. Lots of options.

Yeah graphite or silicone is the way to go, it won't attract dirt and grime or stain your pocket. CorrosionX and similar does a nice job freeing things up and cutting corrosion, but it stains.

I use dry lube spray... liberally... cannot be just a short spray. wipe any excess off. I recently paid attention to the locks and it seems I had to spray every two other camping outings to ensure easy locking and unlocking. Sometimes it has to do with over or under cranking stabilizers...

The main lock is really stiff. To the point that it almost feels like I’m going to break the key. I hope lubricant does the trick.

DO NOT use any liquid lube

look at the dry lube such as Graphite powder
wet liquid lube pick up dust

did you check to see if the bolts are not loose? I had to tighten them. I read somewhere here that Threadlockers can be used for these bolts so they are never loose ever again.

I didn’t think of that but I’ll check tomorrow. Thanks!

With the deadbolt I almost or maybe I do wish that they didn’t even bother with the regular lock.

I used that on a sticky deadbolt and it worked perfectly.
