small door on entrance door

Not sure if this is the correct forum but I need direction on restoring the small door on my entrance door. I can't really tell what it supposed to be. I looks like it may have had screen at some point. That would make sense but there are no residuals of screening there now. It appears it would open from the outside swing up and latch at the top leaving an opening at the bottom, I'm guessing to act as a screened window while the door itself is locked. Does anyone have pictures of anything similar that you can post so I will have a direction on how this goes together?

I know how it hinged and latches on the outside but not sure of how the screen is attached or how it would lock on the inside?

There is a horizontal panel attached to the door. The knob in the middle went through this panel and then was bolted to the inside of the door panel. I'm guessing to was supposed to be turned one way to secure the door and turned the other to allow it to open. If that is the case, the knob would have to go through the screen some how.

It looks to me as though it was a doggy door. Unless you have a dog, I'd just shine it up and make sure it seals well and forget it.

53-4 Wbh

It's a 53-4 Wally Byam Holiday, Made at the Airstream plant in Ohio. Not a true Airstream but qualifies for the WBCCI. As far as I know, I have both of the ones that still exist. I'm restoring the first of the two this summer.

Very Cool,

Post some interior pictures when you can. We'd all love to see the process.
