Sliding Latch Door catch broken '72 Tradewind
The Latch is broken that holds the door open on my 72 Tradewind. It is a sliding black latch riveted to the skin. That part looks good but the other half on the door appears to be broken where the latch connects to hold the door open. Been using a bungie cord to strap it back so door doesn't flap in the wind but would love to fix latch the way it was designed. Any parts or work arounds?

Hi, Rich. Can you take a pic. It sounds like the base piece is intact but you're missing the top piece and spring. Is that correct? I just repaired all of my latches so I know what you're going through.
I bought my latch replacement parts from Oasis RV in Tucson. I also salvaged two complete latches that were part of a overhead storage tub. These parts are no longer made but you can still find them if you look hard enough.

Hey Richard,
I think it's the same part on our 76. I bought one and a couple of extras from Inland last year. The tip that catches under the body mounted slide bar broke on mine too. I keep the extras in a tool drawer along with my trusty pop-rivet tool.

The new style "entrance door holdaback" consiste of a metal housing and a better black plastic latch.
Airstream has used that latch for about 35 years.

Richard, can't access your thumbnails. You have what sounds like a similar problem I'm having and I wanted a look at that latch. Any live link to the attached thumbnails? The one on the post above do not work.

Latch
Will look for the pic and upload, I got a local RV repair shop to replace it.
It is the same latch that is used inside the closets and pantry in my Tradewind if that helps you.

Your OEM latch is unavailable as new. The best replacement is the latch Andy speaks of above.
