No Potable Water Key

After recently purchasing an Airstream (1986 34 Limited) and trying it out in campgrounds where I used their water, I lately just found that in the bunch of keys I received from the seller that I do not have the key to open the potable water tank (hadn't needed to do that before now). Although they are looking, I suspect they will not find it. How do you get a replacement key that will work when you do not have one? In my manual, there are pictures of the different keys. Is there some sort of code in there that will tell which key to get, besides just showin the type of key?

There is not a lot of difference and discrimination between each individual key. The PO of my Argosy just pulled out a box of 20-30 keys and tried a few. I now have 4 single keys, each with an individual function. On a couple I can tell the tumblers aren't working the smoothest but the keys still work.

Many people reply about the advisability of having a locksmith replace the locks so that you can actually have a duplicate set. It's supposedly not very expensive, especially if you drive up to the place of business. I think I'd try to match the keys for most of the access doors, keeping a separate key for the trailer door. I'll do this lock replacement before I have my single keys copied.

Funny -- I have the same problem on a NEW airstream. I have to go by the dealer some day and try and get one...
