I believe it is plastic, not aluminum. It is called a bug guard and should be available at Inland RV. I ordered one from there for my '82 several months ago. they are oversized a litte bit; just trim to fit.

Yep, oversize they are because of the variance in the screen doors.

Thank you.

They are plastic...now. Any Airstream dealer should be able to get you one.

Aaron.

Unfortunately, most Airstream dealers stock very few parts, and of those, even more do not stock parts for anything but the new coaches.

Yes, I shaved the edges down on mine with a piece of sandpaper. I bought one from Camping World for my 1981 and it was thicker than the one I bought from Airstream for my 1975. I believe it may have been a generic part the AS bought from an outside vendor and the manufacturer has changed.

The original thin ones would distort and fall out, or break. The newer, thicker ones last longer.

Taper the edges down slightly and it will fit just fine.

Screen Door BAD Idea

This can't be what my '76 Argosy screen door is supposed to look like, not to mention that it is dangerous and won't close when the door is closed. Is the plastic slide mentioned on this forum from Inland RV what I need?

Certainly not original. I believe replacements are available from VTS or ODM. Inland could have them as well.
