Main Door Threshold Issue

Anyone else dislike the aluminum "ramp" at the threshhold of newer Airstreams? It is touted as good for sweeping stuff out of the trailer but some visitors to ours complained that it was very awkward when they stepped on it.

An engineer friend of mine created a solution and I am testing the first one. It works well.

Interested in experiences from others. Thanks!

New Threshold Add On. It is aluminum with clips to hold it in place and makes the threshold much more gradual.

Following….I like the idea. I have had to reinstall new rivets in my original but this looks like a better solution.

Like the idea, but overall, doesn't seem all that much different than the factory sans a bit softer pitch. Seems more like a grenade in search of a pin type problem to me, but hey everyone's different.

First, take that lovely Airstream door mat and pitch it outside before it leaves a black stain on your floor.
Thank me later.

BTW, the original angle strip has two plastic trim pieces on the ends. Unfortunately, if they fall off there doesn't seem to be a way to get them back on, except perhaps removing the rivets to the outside trim.

Your right!

Good Advise , We flip our upside down while in storage so the carpet is on the floor. On a trip its moved a lot to be cleaned so rubber side down is not a problem.

We got yellowish staining on the floor from the interaction between the glue, the new composite floor, and the vinyl. I think we do have a little staining from the matt, too, but not sure.

We have a long narrow slate blue rug from Lowes that covers it and makes the floor a little cozier.

Seems like some people step OVER the threshold and some step ON it. Seems to make a difference in the experience.

Thanks for the input.
