Hi Tony, Yes I have a stainless handle that may fit your limited. The handle should fit trailers 1978 to 1993 but there are a few exceptions. The easiest way to tell is the size of the handle - mine is 2" wide x 4" high. if you could verify this we can go from there. Contact me at j.boxmaker@sbcglobal.net.

Thanks,

John

I just replaced my broken handle with one of John's stainless replacements. Excellent workmanship plus dummy-proof instructions. Thank-You John. Sal

FYI - none of the available handle/lock replacements fit or seemed suitable for our 88 Excella, of which the problem was NOT the handle itself but the two 90 degree tabs on the slider plate inside the mechanism - the ones the tangs on the handle contact and slide against to pull the mechanism/bolt back.

My fix, as a quicker/easier option than having two new tabs fabricated and welded onto the plate, was to screw on two 1/4" metal standoff blocks onto the plate where the tabs were, countersinking a flat head screw on the backside of the plate. The handle tangs have adequate contact area to pull on the standoffs and shift the plate/mechanism freely. I dare saw the standoffs probably aren't going to bend or break off before the tangs on the handle do, for which there is no fitting replacement, close, but not usable.

I may have pictures someplace.

Here is a thread where a guy made a new plate with the tabs on it. I think he did a real good job with it.

Although I'd highly recommend John's handles (they look superior), I ended up buying interior and exterior hardware from the OEM manufacturer, TriMark. These parts are discontinued but many of them are still available for purchase via ebay.

These fit my 1988 345 motor home:

Trimark Door Handle And Lock Assembly 11298-35-RH (interior side lock and latch)
TriMark series 030-0450 / part number is: 11812-37 (exterior latch)

Nickglase, it sounds like you replaced the complete door lock assembly with another brand? I don't know when they stopped putting Keeler Brass Door locks on Airstreams but if yours came with a Trimark Door Lock then we are talking about a different animal.

Please note that the TriMark handles were original equipment on classic motor homes and not on many trailers.

Do you have any suggestions for screen door replacement latches, We have an 88 Excella 1000 and the screen door has no hardware on it, just screw holes where previous latches might have been. ODM wants $22 per latch and it's kinda difficult to visualize from the pictures exactly what will fit. Thank You Newbies
