KT Lock repair

This has probably been covered before, but I have not been able to find it. I have a KT Lock from a 72 Overlander that needs work. I am quite busy at the moment with work and trying to work on the restoration and really don't want to delve into a lock rebuild. Does anyone know a locksmith or repair person that would be good to fix the KT? Thanks!

Some Airstream dealers have people that can repair/refurbish those locks.

Thanks, first of all I am no expert in this area (or any others). The bolt does retract with the handle from the outside and appears to be intact. The spring seems to work the bolt well. The interior handle does not connect to the bolt and looks like it may need a small pin or screw. There is another notched pin that looks like it acts with the lock that is not fastened. The handle was removed and in a bag when I bought the Airstream. Thanks!

Is it still fully assembled in the bag? Or just a bunch of parts?
The KT lock assembly is famous for failing due to slamming the door.
The roll pins shear off from the sudden snap of the bolt extending.
Does the outside handle still rotate the shaft when operated?
I have had some success in repairing a few of the KT locks.
I can guide you through it if you want to take it on.
I would be willing to make an attempt to repair it if you want to send it to me. No guarantees that I will be successful. No charge other than parts and mailing costs in both directions.
You live in the north west corner of Wyoming. I live 8 miles from Torrington.
How big of a hurry are you in?

Thanks, it is assembled and in a bag. The exterior handle does still operate the bolt, the interior handle does not. That seems to be the only real issue. There is a notched pin that seems to operate from the cylinder lock that may need attention. I would gladly mail it to you with money in advance for parts and labor. I'm not really in a hurry (I've got a long ways to go on the rest), down to bare frame right now, but going back together. If you want to list your address or give me a call or text that would be great...307-690-4294, thanks!

Thanks TG Twinkie for a professional and timely rebuild on my KT latch! It works great and looked hopeless to me. Cheers

I'm having an issue with the KT lock on my '75 Overlander.

You wouldn't happen to know anyone in Austin, TX who can repair / rebuild these locks?

Thank you for responding.

It's locked and won't open - so I'm completely locked out of the trailer at the moment.

I turn the key in the cylinder but it won't release the lock. It feels like the cylinder is "almost" catching on something but not enough to open the bolt.

The cylinder is also loose in the assembly. Maybe the paddle is not opening the bolt? I honestly don't know what the problem is.

Spoke to a locksmith who said they could possibly get me in but can't guarantee they won't destroy the lock. Not much help, I'm sure I could destroy the lock myself!

If I could find replacement cylinders / assemblies for these, I'd take a chance on the locksmith but they don't seem to be available anywhere.
