How to hold door open at 90 degrees?

Has anyone found a way to hold the entry door open at 90 degrees other than the cheap plastic latches? When my door is open it covers up the stove vent and gets whatever the vent is blowing out all over it. I have found plastic and steel (but not stainless) hinged T-pins that mount to the trailer and latch in a fitting on the door. Has anyone found one in SS or Al or used something else?

Hi Al & Missy!

I'm not sure exactly what you are needing.....but, might take a look at the suction cup hooks for Christmas wreaths that I posted about on the Small Space Living thread in the Class B Motorhomes forum. I have found these at WalMart and at Michaels. They hold up to 25 lbs, and do a great job,

These are pretty amazingly strong, for $2 or so, and you can mount them on any smooth surface, not requiring a permanent fixture. They are also clear, so not terribly obvious.

I'm thinking one of these, wherever is appropriate...above or behind your door.... and one of those miniature bungee cords, from the door to the hook??

On edit: this is what the ones I got from WalMart look like, and their hook swivels to lay flat. The ones I got a month or so ago at Michaels are very similar, but the hook is smaller, thicker, and does not swivel.

Yes there was actually such a device that was OEM on some Airstreams a few years back. Our original Lucy was a 2005 Safari 25FB. She was one of the first ten FB's ever made. She was produced with a rear-hinged door. Airstream switched to a front-hinged door after the first ten units were produced.

Because the door would open into the awning arm if the awning was deployed, they added a door hook that held the door at 90 degrees to the trailer. It was a high-quality hook that never rusted after eight years

I have posted a picture of this part of Old Lucy. If you blow it up, you can get a good look at this hardware.

When the weather's that hot I keep the door closed and run the air conditioner.

Well, you could put a 2" board under the tires on the street side.

You could keep the door open, but I doubt that you would be able to drain the black and gray tanks.
