How interchangeable are trailer/moho/Argosy entry doors?

I have seen a good bit of information out there saying that any Airstream door should fit any AS application, and I am doubting that (having seen older trailers and their doors look very different from newer ones).

My questions:

Does anyone know if an entry door from a 370 classic moho will fit a 1984 classic 310 moho and/or a 1974 Argosy 20' moho?

Will trailer entry doors from the same era fit motor homes (are the hinges on a different side? If so, can they be swapped?)?

Is there a certain period that all doors were homogenized, and if so, when did it start?

Thanks for any info to help with my puzzlement!

Susan

hi susan

no there isn't and they never has been.

with really old trailers the issue is finding a replacement door, ANY door.

so folks who find a door from another unit make it work because it has too...

for the more modern years (the last 30-40) each door is still a 'one off' production...

this is true for all the classic mohos and all the non square air' twinks...

do folks bend and tweak and shoehorn mongrel doors? sure

but again it's about making do or being thrifty....

the riveted trim/framing is actually part of a complete door assembly, along with the hinges and actual doors....

and new one cost about 3,000 bucks, plus installation.

the guy/s making doors uses a jig and pre assembles the complete unit, which is to be riveted in place.

so no 2 are exactly the same...

ouch!

cheers
