Entrance Door Lock Fix
If your entrance door lock looks like this, you can accidentally engage the lock, by just "slamming" the door.
We have come up with a fix to eliminate the problem.
We will supply the fix at "NO CHARGE," along with the installation instructions. It will take 5 minutes or less to install the fix. You will not need any other parts to complete the installation.
Send us a SASE (self addressed stamped envelope) and we will send the fix and instructions to you.

I did a semi-smart thing on my 73. I put in a sliding deadbolt on my screen door to keep it closed. Only trouble is sometimes it can lock when you don't want it to, i.e. when you are outside. As there is a latch that locks the screendoor to the entrance door, voila, you are locked out. Necessity is the mother and I fashioned a coat hanger wire toosel to jimmy the slide back open. I finally got half smart and now use a minature bungee to keep the slide in an open position when not needed. Not purdy but it works.

I had this problem too. I just parked the trailer on a 30 degree slope and rattled the door until the slide moved back. I then removed the slide permanently. Gravity still works.

I have an old computer.
It's six months old.
It won't let me e-mail parts.

Andy, that is really, really nice of you to do this. I'm out of warranty too, so any fix to the lock would be on my dime anyway, if I could get the factory to even respond with something other than don't close/slam the door!

Slamming???
Thanks Andy, I'll send my SAE today...only I want to also say that the lock will slide even without ...'slamming'...!
This has happened to me more than 3 times....a few times I had the key on me so no problem but there were 3 really BAD breakins I and a few really good and skinny friends helped out!

Lock Fix
Thank you Andy~we've already had this happen to us several times and we've become paranoid about where the key is.

I finally got around to fixing my screen door slider on the Excella. I am always loath to change the OEM look or add anything extra if I can get around it. The slider body is chrome over brass and thick enough to accept a spring and ball to make a positive detent. I used a spring (cut down) and a ball from a power window switch from an old Volvo.

Andy- I have a 66 A/S Safari with the old turn lock deadbolt supplied by airstream (it was more of a safety feature tyo keep the door closed in travel) anyway, both sides of the lock are intact but it appears the pin that acts as the actual deadbolt is missing or broken off, I can see inside the door and can view the mechanism moving. Any thoughts on obtaining a replacement pin? It seems that by merely removing a few pop rivets on the inside door skin will allow access to the lock. Thanks ! John

Airstream first used a travel lock in the 67 models.
I have no idea what travel lock you may have.
Can you post a photo?
