Probably yes

You need a "real" lock shop. Our city has only one shop (Cothran's) that can reliably do more than simply duplicate keys. They can also make a key if you take them the lock itself in most cases. They either pull the cylinder, measure, and cut a key to fit the existing tumblers or they simply put in new tumblers and cut a key to fit the new pattern.

Cheapest approach of all may be to simply buy and install a new cylinder in the existing lock. There are some other threads that have cylinder part numbers.

Locks

Call an AS dealer and ask them they may be able to order it for you. You may have a problem finding a new cylinder for that year, I think the company that made that lock went out of business, if you get a new AS lock it will cost you about $500 and you have to modify the door . They do not sell the cylinder seperately you have to buy the works. The key to finding parts for AS locks is patience as I am still looking.

Lock cylinders

There are posts in other threads that give part numbers for compatible cylinders by other lock manufacturers. I don't know whether they fit your year, but it is certainly worth a try.

You can probably do a search to find the posts.

Tumbler for Airstream Lock

I was having trouble with my door lock on my `1987 345 Airstream Motor Home, and one of the people who attended the Mystic Springs Classic Motor Home Rally posted a source and part number for the tumbler on his vehicle. I ordered the tumbler and installed it in my door lock and it works fine. I believe it was ALAND, but Im not sure -- you might check. I believe the place I ordered it from was Camper Supply, but again I am not sure - I did not keep the shipping document - I believe it was about $20 max.

Inland RV

I just got a new tumbler from Inland RV in Corona CA. I am sure that it is a different part than for the '87, but the point is that the guys therre were very helpful, even told me which rivets to drill out to get the door lock out of the door on my 71.
They had the tumbler with 2 keys for about $ 50.00
It would not surprise me if they could help you get set up with a key, or a tumbler etc. ( or the much needed information)

Tomb........

Our recently purchased 1976 Excell 500 had no door key, nor access door keys for the battery box. A locksmith came out, determined the correctly style of keys necessary, then used a fairly soft metal key of the correct style. He inserted it in the lock, wiggled it to make marks on the key, hand filed the key, wiggled and filed more until it would operate the lock. He then used the soft key as a pattern and cut keys on his machine to match. The replacements work fine. The cost was like $25, and I didn't have to remove or replace anything.
