Door Bells

My 77 excella 500 has what i'm assuming is a door bell at the base of the handle next to the door and then 6 inches lower there is another black button. Is this another door bell? where can I get repair parts?

Thanks, DesertRat

Wow, I have never seend a door bell option on an AS - I am sure an AIR veteran will get you the exact answer.

We purchased a fairly cheap battery operated RC door bell at Home Depot, velcro'd the button next to the door and stuck the chime unit inside the kitchen cabinet near the door - works like a charm, has different ring tones, amuses the kids for 30+ minutes, and keeps my wife or neighbors from scaring the heck out of me by stepping in "unannounced" when I am lost inside the trailer working on a project. Should be factory standard equipment along with a remote door lock.

Good luck - posting some pictures will help.

Hi DesertRat,
My 91 Excella has a door bell and the button is made into the handle. If you need a replacement button or chime go to your local hardware store or a Lowes/ Home Depot. I had to replace the chime in my trailer a few months ago and the chime was located under the sofa. The new chime looked identical to the original except for color and they are 12 volts so no modifications are necessary. The new chime came with a transducer for a household install to go from 110v to 12v and you will not need that . I am not sure where the chime would be located on your trailer but someone else might. The white button in the nameplate is the doorbell. The unit is located near the fuse panel in my unit. It was a standard Excella feature. Parts should be hardware store items.

We have a doorbell on both our 1974 Excella and our 1984 310 Limited RV. I had to laugh, since the Excella will be the only car hauler trailer I have ever seen with a doorbell!

Brad did some research a while back and found what the folks above have said is true--the doorbell uses common parts found the home improvement/hardware stores. Yours may have been replaced, or someone may have liked a black button better than the white one.
