Do I have this on wrong?
I tried all the tricks to get this door to shut better after replacing the gasket. I'm now wondering if I've placed on on wrong. Glued it to the door itself as instructed. The problem is, the door is really hard to shut from the inside. I had to put a rope on it to pull with so I don't wreck the lock/handle! As you can see from the pictures, the door dojob is kind of hung up on the gasket. What would happen if I trimmed the gasket from around the dojob (sorry, having a total mind blank about what that thingy is!). Would the water that may get in continue down the gasket, or come in the door? Well, I'll let all of you tell me what to do!

I Can Open the Pictures
I was able to open the pictures. I simply clicked on each link and my computer asked me if I wanted to save or open the file.
I don't know if the gasket is installed correctly or not. It does appear to be quite a thick gasket based on the picture showing it bulging behind the latch.

You sure that's the correct gasket for that particular year? New gaskets are always a little difficult at first, but that looks like it may continue to be a headache for years to come.

Well, I ordered it from Inland & they assured me it was the right one. I don't have a chunk of the one I took off, as I redid it last fall. I figured it had to break in, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Trim the gasget from the latch....so that the latch is not rubbing the gasket. Other than that it looks O.K. Just use it till it settles in. Mine took several months.

That's what I did with ours. It works fine, but the door requires more force to close since the gasket now actually contacts the frame.

That was my thought, but will I get water in the door if I trim it around the LATCH (thank you very much for the missing word!)

If anyone knows which one is the correct one, Inland would be the folks who do. I'd take the above advice and trim it back from the latch. Luckily, we're coming into the summer months, so maybe the heat will help it settle in.

As long as you just trim enough to get the latch to work, you shouldn't have a problem.

Okay, I'll give it a shot. I would rather replace the gasket again if it doesn't work than replace the door lock/latch. Thanks!

Here's a picture of ours. It's an advantage that all I have to do is open the door and shoot...

Personally I would cut nothing before I heard from Inland Andy.
He sold it let him explain it.
I have no idea how to call a particular thread to his attention. I'm waiting for a follow up on a door frame thread from him. However after all he does for us here, I don't think it is my place to rush him. I did however PM him but haven't heard back yet. Perhaps you could do likewise.
One of my all time peeves is when a salesperson tells me, "dont worry it will adjust itself in time". Sometimes that's right sometimes that's just a dodge.
Time is money and they usually already have most of mine. LoL.
I've heard it about shoes, eyeglasses, car brakes and too many more things to recall.
Goodluck, I am following this thread as I will someday soon need to tackle new weatherstrip. Did you not save any of the old? Did you send a sample of the old to Inland with your order? Of course who knows if the old was the right stuff anyway?

I'm sure he will eventually see this thread, but he was on the phone with me while I was cutting the gasket to fit the latch on ours.

I attached a question about this gasket on another thread (which I couldn't find), and Andy said it should be siliconed & would wear in. It was put on last August-September. I called Inland & told them the year, etc. of my trailer. I guess I can wait for a while (not going camping anyhow) and see if he sees this thread. If there isn't any response from him, I'm going to go ahead & cut it. It's better than ruining the lock.
