Question deadbolt with inside twist style lock

Hi all,
I'm wanting information about deadbolts before I buy one for my 59 Traveler.
I've seen Daisy's installation- very neat job. But I though I heard of a smaller one after Daisy installed hers.
I see one by Valterra and one by ACAR industries.
I'm hoping to find a smaller than regular door sized one.
Please advise.
Thank you.
Cindy

Cheap and easy dead bolt.

Recently while repairing a SOB, I observed a very nice installation of a hi quality cabinet lock installed as a dead bolt. Not really a dead bolt as the lock can only be locked from the out side. The lock was for a hi security condition and was made from brass and stainless steel. The cost was about $80. Only a real lock shop would have the sources for this type lock. It seemed to be very easy to install. The lock was mounted in the door jamb, not the door. The door only had a slot about 1/4 X 1 1/4. The locking steel blade moves in a horizonal motion. The lock was very close to the body, so as to prevent an easy lock removal. The local locksmith said these locks are very strong and overlooked for security. The mfg name is Sargent Lock....

Daisy's 73 Ambasswador site. This is a link to her deadbolt installation.

Deadbolt with Inside Twist Style Lock

Greetings Cindy!

I am including pictures of my '64 Overlander's door locksets. It was equipped from the factory with a non-locking knob-set with a deadbolt. These are OEM replacements for the originals that failed last year.

Door Edge View

This installation is probably very similar to what would have been available on a 1959 Traveler with the door-within-a-door. There were differences in the knobset latch assembly that resulted in revisions to the door hardware in the door edge view which left the two holes where the original had a nylon insulator boshing collar that couldn't be modified to work with the new lockset.
