Our key operated deadbolt lock jammed or return trip from Salem locking us out or our trailer (1988 Excella 32-MB). Called locksmith who tried everything, then we jimmied open the window by the door, cut the screen & he had to get a pair of channel lock pliers & twist the inside thumb latch until the lock 'popped' open. Deadbolt had broken in shut position. Tried to remove the inside thumb latch & get the lock out but to no avail. May have to get local locksmith to help replacing lock.
I thought I would add picture while I have deadbolt open.
Mine looks just like your on outside. Doing full restore and just removed my deadbolt to have keys made. The deadbolt is attached to the Handel with 2 screws and the Handel to the Airstream with four bolts. I removed the lock without removing the mechanism in the wall by grinding down Allen wrench.
Yes. Spray the heck out of it with penetrating oil and let it sit for awhile. Work the key in and out. Move the trailer In case it is bound. It could be broken. More likely seized up.
I have a 91 Excella 29’ which has the same lock. I have had occasional trouble with the deadbolt which is due to binding problems due to twists and pressures on the door. Have solved them all by applying various inventive pressures to the door. You need at least two people to help. I’d also try some lock lubricant, silicone or graphite.
Just Fyi: My tumbler in my (2003 Bambi) door broke , and I could not get the key to work. Emailed the Jackson Center, and they told me to order a whole new door mechanism from a Airstream dealer. The door handle plus 3 sets of extra keys ran $200.
