‘76 Argosy lock
My handle and lock are intact as you can see. However, when you pull the key out the entire tumbler (?) if thats what it’s called can pull out.
Is this fixable, repairable or unobtainable?
Thanks
Dan

Dan, yes almost certainly fixable as your lock seems to be complete. I would remove the whole thing from the door, collect all the parts and bring them to the "oldest" locksmith you can find. 3-4 years back when I did my '76 Argosy a decent selection of parts were available, not sure now.
Good luck, Mark D

Is it just these three screws that hold the lock and handle onto the door? Once screwed out from the inside, the entire assembly will release and can then be taken to the locksmith? Any thing to be worried about when pulling out like parts dropping to the bottom of the door ?
Thank you

So Dan, yeah, 3 screws - pretty simple, probably 1 or 2 coming in from the frame edge. Some sort of set screw holding the handle on. It's ok to drill out a few rivets right there around the handle, move the inner skin a bit to let the lock button slide by. Back of lock moves out from door and then slides back and out. There's usually wood or insulation right under the lock so parts that fall (most likely not) won't go far. It's been several years so I really can't remember what keeps the tumbler in place, clip? screw? It's usually pretty obvious. Take a pic. Even if its easy, have the lock gone through and extra keys made.

The brass clip in lock cylinder is broken or popped out. Locksmith can replace clip. Try removing cylinder first and see if clip is there. If not take only the cylinder. If you dont feel confortable, take the complete lock as other have suggested.

If I understand you, the cylinder (where key goes in) I can pull it all the way out? I’ve been Leary to do so as I don’t want to make a bad situation worse. If there is no clip attached, take it to a locksmith and they can probably install one. Once that happens, do I just reinstall the cylinder and I’m good to go? Thanks guys.

I meant to reply eariler. All locksmiths that I was referred to could not fix. Any other ideas?
The door shuts snug, I just can’t lock it. What are the odds of this being an issue later while towing? I’ve got nothing worth stealing in it while camping so that’s not a worry.

Hey Dan, possible huge issue like door popping open and slamming into side of trailer... fixing your lock may not help this! Search forums for wood door "widget" that goes under outside handle and covers door edge to keep shut, mine went away with the Argosy. I've added a deadbolt to the last 3 trailers, from VTS.
