1966 Airstream Overlander Door Lock

Currently, I'm rebuilding a 1966 Airstream Overlander into a pie shop and I've been having several problems. I bought it with a broken lock and if I would've known how hard it was to fix and replace, I probably wouldn't have bought it. Here are a few of the issues I need help with:
1. I can't find a 3 1/2 inch back set door knob / dead bolt set anywhere. Has anyone found one? Also, I heard there's a way to retrofit it with a paddle handle. Is that true?
2. My welder has tried to weld the inside of my door where it had snapped 3 times and it isn't holding. Any thoughts? Is the inside of the door made of aluminum or steel?

Any help would be appreciated at this time! Thank you!

Sounds like your in way over your head. You may be able to get some help from these folks...they are good and have a good reputation. VintageCampers.com :: Vintage Campers, Vintage Trailers, Vintage Parts, Vintage Restorations If you have the window frame your missing it will be easier to fix that problem. It is flat glass. The lock on the 66 has the long lock arm. Be sure you get that when you get the door lock assembly. They do appear on Ebay.

Shauna.

There is a door lock kit available that replaces the original L-100 lock that you have. That original lock at this point has been obsolete for a couple of years.

The door frame is cast aluminum. If it keeps on breaking, then I would suggest you find a different welder who knows that you must "taper" the cracks big time, and then add the weld. Simply welding the surface will not in any way, be anything but a very temporary fix.
