Hi all
My plan for every day setup is Weboost (Connect RV 65), but use the outside omnidirectional antenna from their (Drive 4G-X RV) kit. Then pull out the mast and directional antenna only when needed. I emailed Weboost and they said it would work.
Ben fussing over the outside antenna location for a while and decided to extend the plumbing vent up and use it for the antenna mount and as a point of access for the cable.
Stay tuned, work in progress!
That vent is a mighty light weight piece of plastic. The antenna is very much "up in the wind". I would want it mounted to something very solid. When you are running down a two lane road at 55 mph (who would ever go faster .... ) and a truck comes down the other lane going the same speed, the wind blast is at least 110 mph. Of course if you are driving in Texas that could be ... errr ...140 mph.
Hi Bob
I appricate your concerns but I'm going for it.
The factory vent was very NOT plumb, so I ended up doing some work inside to straighten it out. In the process I decided to change to PVC for a white look on top. I used a standard metal roof plumbing vent seal. I did use 6-32 aluminum nutzerts in the airstream skin and 6-32 stainless bolts to attach the seal. Dicor sealant under and around. I decided to use a threaded connection on top giving me flexibility to play with it.
Still in process.
