I keep asking for one of those "roundy-round" dials, but they just give me a strange look.............

I did see one someplace that was geared to us seniors. I believe Samsung make it.
Not available in Canada as far as I know, but it has big buttons, a big read out, and two very prominent buttons marked "YES" and "NO" for you to respond to question prompts on the screen.
Doesn't play music, doesn't play movies, doesn't take pictures, doesn't text message, its a phone dammit!
I'd get one if available here!

This is the best phone I ever had. I could punch in numbers easily and hear as good as a desk phone.

I love all the buttons on the side of cellphones. When I hold them, who knows what I've changed?

I was told by a retired phone company lady that "old folks" biggest objection to cell phones is the small size, small buttons etc.
That got me thinking (oh no, that could mean trouble).
Does anyone think there would be a market for a "cell phone adapter" that would plug into the wall for power, have a small antenna to enhance reception, and have a plug receptacle to plug in a regular, land line home phone? It would turn your desk phone into a cell phone.
Why would someone want to do that you ask?
Would solve the "small button etc" problem for older folks and others
like the blind or nearly blind.
Nationwide long distance.
Would be very private with no directory.
No political or sales calls.
Could be moved from room to room or place to place with no special wiring.
Don't know, but perhaps it could be used with the base for the wireless phones many of us now use.
Add your own ideas to this list.
Am I crazy or might there just be a market for such a device?

There are such devices, I have a friend that uses one. He has disconnected his home phone service from the "grid" - this device then plugs into a phone jack. When he is home his cell phone sets in the cradle and the unit powers all the "landline" phones in the house. Pick any one of them up and it uses the cell phone for a connection. When he leaves he just takes the cell with him.

That's not exactly what I had in mind, but a great idea. I would be interested in such a device as we have disconnected our land lines as well.
Does this allow your friend to use two phones (one plus an extension) so that two people can get on the phone as we could with the land line?

Just did an internet search and found several devices. They operate all of your home phones through your cell phone. Not exactly what I originally had in mind, but certainly a step in a fun direction.

I will tell you that he is not all that happy with the setup, it's not perfect but keeps him from running around the house looking for his cell. There could be better designs to allow more of the functions of the cell phone throughout the additional lines. He is moving on to another system but I have yet to get more info. It's the way I want to go, get rid of the landline - just internet and home alarm systems have me doing additional research. We are in a rural location, some options do not apply out here. I travel allot and the home line gets used about 5 times a month.
