Just adds to the fun. I’m mostly analog, no interest in any form of Morse code**, PSK-31 if I want to play with digital stuff. All the old protocols and waveforms will be around as long as someone can use them to communicate.

Heck, the Navy still uses signal flags and semaphore flags to communicate...

** Thanks to the no-code international organization, which lobbied like crazy to eliminate the requirement to learn Morse code. My member number was #13.

I am very proud we got that removed as a requirement just to get any ham radio license. Let the flames commence from the folks with a different opinion.

Technology has always been moving forward. I think the elimination of the Morse requirement was only the beginning of a lot of changes to come.

I'm just not sure that AirForums is the best platform to 'air' this discussion.

No, probably not. I don’t plan to respond to any comments on the subject.

Current and future communication technologies are far more interesting...this is the first I’ve heard of ‘M17’ protocol. Time to read up on it.
