Ack! I went to see Smokey and the Bandit on my 16th birthday. (Maybe that explains why I've turned out like I have.)

My dad's call sign was KEM-4599. I think we had to renew it a couple of times, and then nobody bothered anymore, and then it was no longer required.

And now? I have a big Midland battery-eater walkie talkie around here somewhere.

CB in 2011

Just to revive this tread to see whats out there in 2011? COMONBAK?
We have had great entertainment over the years with the CB while travelling. Good when caught in an accident situation where the traffic is backed up for miles. You can get updates from the truckers going the other direction.

I have one that we use when we are out and about. My wife always says " Why do you have that thing? We never use it". My reply is always the same, Just incase we do we'll have it. Thank goodness we did. We got stranded in the middle of the Mojave Desert with no cell signal. But, we did have the CB. I was able to talk with a trucker and asked him to send a tow truck. Needless to say, a few hours went by and here comes the tow truck. I now never leave home with out one.

When we travel with friends, or youth in the MH, the CB is on and they all listen, and ask questions...what does 'flip flop' mean ?
