Forgot to mention. The Peplink does not make a 5G modem with this chip set and if you need remote cell signal the x65 has more bandwidth. The Peplinks are already obsolete. The GliNet is a small company and got certification where Peplink hasn't. This router also has two sim slots (one modem).

I have not followed the GliNet product line. The reviews are generally underwhelming but they are cheap.
The biggest issue is that their devices are not certified by the largest cellular provider in the US, Verizon. The way plans change you want a cellular device capable of performing on all US cellular networks.

There isn't an underwealming review on the Spitz out there. I actually see way more bad Pepwave reviews. The few people that reviewed it confirmed it has high quality components. I confirm its a rock star. They are certified Tmobile and Sprint. They work on all carriers. I have a Verizon card and a TMobile card in mine. Rite now Tmobile has the largest 5g bandwidth.
The support is great. They reply almost instantly on facebook and their forum.
Its an alternative to Peplink with a modem futuree proof. It less expensive for sure. Pay more and get less. Its all good

Glad your experience works for you. When the largest cellular carrier in the US will not certify cellular modem, much less an entire line of modems by one company, there is a reason. I wonder about the Hong Kong ownership of Spitz.
Don't really have a dog in this fight. I use Starlink In Motion. I have owned both Cradlepoint and Peplink since the 2G/3G introduction days. Over the years both Cradlepoint and Peplink have experienced long delays for new product certification on the Verizon network. Verizon standards are higher than most carriers. Verizon wants as many devices consuming data on their network as they can, so their reasons not to certify must be sound, since it hits the bottom line.

GliNet doesent want Verizon certification. Verizon works on it fine though. I am using it rite now on Verizon. They design for Sprint and TMobile mainly. TMobile 5G banwidth just kills Verizon with their lower frequency rural ranges. I am a Verizon guy with over 30 lines with them. I boufght this router because of TMobile and its ability with the new chip set to utilize it better than any peplink.
The firmware is open sorce also so anyone can look at the code .The Hong Kong comment whatever it ment was uncalled for as most chipsets are made there. They are very good at making electronics. You obviously have a dog in the fight as I see I stepped on a nerve. This is an alternate to Peplink subject matter thread. You may have missed that.

And there may be the problem with the Verizon lack of certification. Just do a search on "GL-inet vulnerability". Many security advisories about vulnerability of the open source code in their products. Lots of activity. Reminds me of the Huawei 5G issues a few years ago.
I am not an expert in this area but just because it "works" in the software business is not always sufficient. Buyer beware.

Your just butt hurt. There is vulnerbilities in every phone or router made. Thats why they update them. Good try.
The open source software they use(OpenWrt) is used on thousands of items people use daily.Lynksys routers run it and developed it. Since thousands of companies use and test the software it has less vulnerbilities that a closed source software.

it does stay up on the roof during travel. The magnetic holds it very tightly to the roof. When I bought my trailer I made the mistake of having a We-Boost installed. Total waste of money. The dealer popped a hole in the roof (actually the curved end-cap) into the rear locker. I removed the We-Boost and used that hole for the Insty Connect. The dealer used a Winegard single cable entry cover (see link below). I reused it.

I'm very happy with the entire setup. Works well.

Absolutely. Well governed open source (like OpenWRT) is at least as secure. More importantly, it is infinitely more private. This applies well beyond routers.
Consumer products are loaded with data monitoring and surveillance software components. Why hack into someone's router or cellphone when the information can be bought, or, even collected with an add-on app/component.
The current OpenWRT router I have (WE826) is inexpensive, rock solid and allows me to change out the modem if needed. I am not sure what "certification" could make it any more secure or reliable.
I have an iPhone and have a de-Googled android phone built entirely on open source. When I put my SIM card into the opensource phone, the monthly data usage is 1/10 of the iPhone. Gotta wonder what's up there huh?

I cannot tell where the antenna is mounted; Is it hard to reach to access the router for SIM cards (I hope rare)?

The Insty Connect is mounted next to the Fantastic Fan on the roof towards the rear of the trailer. I can reach the antenna (with the modem inside it) using a 7’ ladder from the curb side of the trailer. I’m 5’10” and didn’t have too much difficulty reaching it. I’ve had no need to access the SIM card after the initial install.
