Getting Starlink out of the trailer

I have a FC 28 RBQ and am looking for a way to get the Starlink antenna wire out of the trailer. I like the idea of the Smartplug ehternet port for getting through the wall cleanly, but the only place I can find it is eTrailer, and they are backordered until August or September. I tried West Marine, and they don't list it on their site. I still have my batteries outside, so I don't have a "big" hole go thread a plug through. Any other suggestions for alternatives to the Smartplug adapter, or for other means to get the wire out?

Thanks!

Modify the existing Marinco pass through for cable and satellite. Put in a cat6 outlet. Click image for larger version

Not trying to talk you out of a cleaner installation like Kay0 has, but the battery cables must come in somewhere and the hole in my Globetrotter is big enough to push the connector thru. In fact, its big enough I need to plug it up a bit.

I believe GMFL (Airstream Nuts & Bolts) ran his through the cable / satellite port. He did have to replace one of the coax ports. This uses the same access port as satellite/cable TV, replacing one coax port with a weatherproof ethernet port.

I'd also consider looking at where power comes in at the front of your rig. You may be able to snake an ethernet cable in alongside your battery power line(s).

I took mine out through the existing hole in the floor under the port side front bed where the battery cabling runs out. Lots of space, and an opportunity to properly seal the hole if you haven’t already.

I’m planning the same once I receive it. I moved my batteries under the bed, it leaves room in the old battery box for the Starlink cable. I’ll mount the router in the cabinet next to the bed, or in the front compartment where I already have power.

Starlink

We have a 25’ 2022 FC FBT. We ran the cord through the right front storage hatch and straight up to the side of the twin bed. Ran the cord around the bed in wire protector to the router on the night stand where there is an electrical plug. To stow we put the antenna in the same hatch. Easy and no cutting the starling cord or drilling holes in the airstream

What I did on our 23 fb was to make an "inside" door for the outside compartment and run the cable through it using a water-tight fitting. It is made from 1/2 inch marine plywood, can be locked and lifted in and out of place and stowed inside the compartment along with the cable for travel. This way the cable stays completely intact from on end to the other. There is access to the compartment from under the bed and that is the path I took to route the cable to the interior.

Just thought I could share an idea others may not have considered.

Pretty much the same message from RVMiles. Buy with your eyes open or you may be disappointed while SL goes thru it's growing pains.

This video also unlocks the secret to getting a customer service ticket initiated. Go to about the 6:00 mark and they show you how you have to got the the FAQ page and then click a "thumbs down" button to bring up a service request ticket. Then maybe wait a few days to two weeks for an answer. I've not personally had to contact them, but this seems nuts to have such crappy customer service.

I'd like to not have to cut the cable, and like Pimm's suggestion. I have the full width rear hatch opening under the bed, which is handy, but I will need to see what I can do to not need to keep the hatch open. Would be nice to also store the receiver back there. Still have the original batteries in use, and can't get the connector through the opening in the front.

Thanks for the suggestions!

This is trending towards the norm with many businesses and CS models unfortunately as to contact method and wait times!

Right? Blows you away when CS actually goes that extra mile to help you out. When I got my 25' Globetrotter last year I was having issues with my Nova Kool Fridge. I sent an email question to their tech support not expecting a lot of help especially since I'd bought my unit used so the mfg warranty did not apply anymore. I actually got a call from their tech support within 25 minutes and the guy spent quite a bit of time with me on the phone and by email diagnosing the problem. He said "I know your warranty does not really apply now, but we're not going to leave a customer hanging". Eventually they sent me some replacement parts that fixed the problem.

It really should not shock you when CS is helpful like that.

My son just helped me produce a video of our Starlink Installation in a 2019 Classic RBQ. This is part one where the cabling is installed. He is working on part 2 where the actual Dishy is installed. Perhaps it will help.
