Since you alluded that cable TV would be ok, wouldn't over the air TV also be acceptable? You won't find cable TV hookups at campsites unless you plan on staying exclusively at private campgrounds.

You should be able to get over the air TV from both of these locations using the external TV antenna. Charleston State Park is close to Louisville and you indicated Seven Seas is in Nashville, which I assume to be the city in TN.

Greg

The last few state parks I've been at have had cable TV hookups. Of the top of my head, Desoto State Park in Alabama.

Thank you for all your comments. After some playing around (part of the problem is that it is an Android tablet and I am more familiar with Windows or Apple systems) I was able to download movies from Fios Mobile to my tablet. The first time I did buy the movie for $15.00. I am now going to buy an HDMI cable to run from the tablet to the flat screen along with the correct adapter.

The next question is if I went to a local McDonalds and used their Wifi to rent a movie I would assume that I could still use the same process provided I played the movie within the two day timeframe. Renting a movie only cost about $5.00 rather than buying it.

Again thank you

As someone already noted if you use Dish Network and a Hopper 3 receiver you can download movies and programming into an iPad.

But since you are renting at this point, hopefully you will be able to take advantage of over the air broadcasting and watch the TV in the Airstream. We found however that since television went digital several years ago, rural areas either work or don't work which is the nature of digital. Places we used to go that had a snowy or marginal picture under analog TV now have nothing. Campground owners said they had to put in enhanced antenna systems to keep their signals. Interestingly enough the best stations in the rural areas tend to be the PBS stations since their transmission towers tend to be placed on lower cost property which tends to be in rural in nature.

Due to that I ended up purchasing a dish satellite receiver and a stand alone dish which aims itself. As long as I have a clear view to the south I can pick up the same Dish Network programming that I have at home. The satellite dish aims itself and I only activate the receiver when we travel. Cost for using that receiver is $7.00 monthly, prorated by day. I turn it on when I leave home and turn it off when I return. There are no additional charges for the programming packages since those are built into my home service from Dish Network.

If your rental goes well and decide to purchase, your might consider satellite as your viewing alternative. While you can get a dish mounted on the trailer itself, I like the ground unit since I can move it around down on the ground to get a signal that might be blocked by trees if the dish was permanently mounded on the trailer roof.

I would like to know how you download a movie from the Hopper to an iPad. What model of iPad are you using?

Thanks

That's what I thought, but Centennialman said he downloaded to his laptop from Amazon Prime, hence my question to him.

It's going to depend on who you rent it from. Most of the VOD companies I'm aware of give you up to 30 days to watch the movie, but once you start the movie you have 2 days to finish watching. I've rented and downloaded several amazon movies on to my iPad for a 7 day trip to watch on the plane ride out, and the plane ride back.

It downloads via WIFi. You use the Dish Anywhere app to do the transfer and viewing. I know it works on my iPad 3.
