Two questions to ask:

1. What are data charges in US?
2. What are data charges in Canada?

We recently went to Canada. I have unlimited data Verizon plan in the US. In Canada, best I could do was $20/GB which is not very much.

Our unlimited Verizon plan provided 0.5 GB LTE per phone per day in Canada. Beyond that we were throttled to 3G speed.

AS is providing you with remote access to features on your trailer. the manual does not mention any more devices nor promise anymore. That is why my att unlimited (grandfathered in) may be a better choice if i can swap the sim

To me that really sounds like a CradlePoint IBR900, but there are some other products out there that would do similar.

My big reason for wondering is - if it's something fairly standard I should be able to switch it over to Verizon instead of AT&T once my year runs out - or better yet I could use both and failover to the better connection.
I called AS and spoke to marketing in Ohio. It only comes with the Classic I was told, and they have no plans for the rest of us. I see this as a great add on. But, ain't happening for non=classic folks.

Hi

I'd bet it's a very conventional hotspot / router like the Netgear device AT&T re-brands. Stick an antenna on it and mount the antenna external to the trailer. There's no need for anything fancier to get done what they are trying to do. The yearly cost sounds a lot like a basic low data use AT&T plan.

That's what I thought at first, but I'm leaning towards what Joshjack suggested that they will use a true mobile router WiFi device dedicated to this job. Czone may be dictating this also as it is their smart RV technology AS is using.

Hi

It's Airstream ( = they are in business to make money) ... what's the lowest cost way to get the job done?
