Connecting Starlink Mini to Pottery Barn 2025 (Airstream Connected)
Hello - I am connecting a new Starlink Mini to a new PB 2025. Had a question on Starlink and connecting through Airstream Connected:
- I got the Mini working and the wifi working.
- Plugged in the Mini using the Ethernet cord into the external port on the Airstream and bypassed the router using the Starlink app
- Connected the internal Ethernet port to the WAN port on the Peplink
My question: I can see the usage in the Starlink app when streaming so it is going through there but in Airstream Connected app there is no sign that I can find that it is using the WAN port vs cellular or Campground wifi. Is there no way to change this in the app?
So if I magically find great campground wifi in the future, do I just unplug or plug in the Ethernet cord to switch between Starlink and what is in the Airstream Connected App (wifi, cell)?

Here is a diagram. Is pretty simple and as mentioned the starlink seems to be working it is just that Airstream Connected doesn't show it as a source that I could I see.
So I switched sources from campground wifi to starlink but plugging/unplugging the internal Ethernet cable.
One other note I haven't seen mentioned on her regarding Airstream Connected: Ours came with Tmobile SIM installed vs ATT. There was no details, signup or anything else regards to the plan it came with. I was able to use it for service as well.
I suppose the answer to my questions is that Airstream Connected is a little half-baked but was hoping for a little more.

Congratulations on your Pottery Barn!
Speaking from ignorance about AS Connected and the app but with a little knowledge about the Mini and Starlink and cellular routers, does the Pottery Barn come with AS Connected installed? Are you subscribing to it?
It sounds like you have everything configured right. And from what I read the 3rd party router should give you better speed than the native Starlink router. I'd assume you want Starlink to be primary internet and the cell as fallover. On the Peplink this should be configurable. I don't know but maybe try downloading the Peplink app and configure from there if you're not required to use the AS Connected app.

The Starlink will need 12v-48v to power on. It doesn’t support power over ethernet. It would really like 24v or more if your cable to the Starlink is more than ten feet or so long. A 12 to 24v booster is what I used. So you’d need two cables with this configuration, power and ethernet. I suppose you can run 120v to the Starlink power brick but that means you need the inverter on if boondocking.
Once that’s in place I would think you can just make sure that’s plugged into the WAN port on your router (if it has one) and it will show up as an ethernet source. It may not say Starlink.
I didn’t want two cables so I just ran the power cable to it and let the Starlink broadcast over its own WiFi router to the router in the trailer. That router rebroadcasts over its own SSID to all the other devices whether the data is coming from the Starlink of cell.
The Starlink’s internal router benefits greatly from being a foot or two off the ground. Otherwise its range is much reduced because much of its energy is going down into the ground.
Yes, you’ll likely want to be able to configure the router directly, either with the app or the internal web page of the router. My understanding is Airstream will unlock it for you if you ask. The Mobile Internet Resource Center and Mobile Musthave have all kinds of info on configuring Pepwave routers.

I forgot to add the power cord to my diagram! But yes it was plugged in and receiving power.
Airstream connected came with the trailer and essentially locks down the peplink with airstream software. It is really dumbed down which is why I think they didn't even have an indicator in the app that I was using the WAN port as primary.
I think I got it working as best as I will be able to tell without removing the airstream software like others have and go straight to peplink. Will see if it ends up being annoying to use over time I guess.

I have a PB 2024 and I run the pep link to
Monitor the trailer and use the T-Mobile card while driving and run the Starlink separately.. I got a t-mobile 30 gig card for $10 per month. I don’t believe the pep link will interface with Starlink but not sure. Hope this helps.

Thanks on my list to go to Tmobile. Probably easier to keep it separate as you mention!

Airstream Connect is to monitor the trailer, and if you find that you want to use it instead of StarLink, you can do so if you are paying for a service. I get 30 Gigs from T-Mobile for 10 per month and use SL constantly.
They don't link together unless you call AS customer service, and they may help. If you want to use campground wifi, you can use it instead of the AS connect. I use StarLink and stay away from campground wifi. I want the security of StarLink.

POE for Starlink Mini
I use this on my PB for starlink Mini and it works great.
https://mobilemusthave.com/products/starlink-mini-poe-dc-power-conversion-kit-with-12v-accessory-output-for-peplink?_pos=1&_psq=starlink+mini+poe&_ss=e&_v=1.0
I also bought a 50ft Ethernet cable that reels up for convenience. This gives me a lot more flexibility for moving the starlink for a better signal and helping avoid trees. The Poe adapter more than compensates for the voltage loss on the cable. I’ve actually been disappointed with starlink mini’s performance but this solution makes a big difference.

Thanks, I was looking for something like this when I get the Mini eventually. I already have a POE, so it's more the splitter that is of interest. Is your disappointment with the reception or the speed? As I commented above, Mobile Must Have did a review of the Mini and what was most interesting is that with bypassing the router and using your own router they got about double the throughput. It's somewhere on their site (or do a search in the forums on the Mini).

Second the T-Mobile data plan SIM card
T-Mobile also have a two for one promotion and that would get you 60Gb for $20 all in including taxes. .
We considered ending it once we added Starlink mini though since Mini is paused most of the year. This is our go to daily use, and it helps we have ATTon our phone plan here on west coast
