Cheaper solution for at&t WiFi

I am living in my AS for next 6 months or so but don’t want to go the AS lte solution. I have searched but most posts are old and probably not current. Is the nighthawk or something like it the way to go? I want to stream a couple of tvs and iPads/iPhones. iPhone hotspots don’t work for my roku tv or fire stick, they don’t show up as WiFi Any suggestions welcome

1. Get a dedicated MIFI receiver from ATT or Verizon. You can buy data by the month or as you need it. The mifi receiver is about $200. Works as a wireless modem.
2. Get a Cell signal booster like a RV WeBoost to help with weak signals in the AS. Cost about $450 to $500.

No real cheap solution if you don’t use your phone as a hotspot.

Just remember when you stream video you are really going to use up data. If you are going to use your TV to watch Netflix etc. I would consider going to a public library and downloading them. Or download them before you leave.

Hi

Both AT&T and Verizon pop up with "unlimited" plans from time to time. Just how unlimited they really are is always a "that depends" sort of thing. We have an AT&T hotspot that is on an unlimited plan. Indeed the plan is pretty good.

Just how much a WeBoost helps is also a "that depends" sort of thing. I would guess that ours really has only helped in < 5% of the campgrounds. Either we have had zero connectivity even with it or things have been fine without it.

Just a bit of streaming from time to time adds up to 50 to 100 GB a month for us. At home we run 300 to 500GB in a normal month. It's amazing just how much video drives up your data usage ....

If you are a business, the best ATT plan we’ve found is $100/mon for 100 GB : https://www.business.att.com/product...-business.html
We have 3 of these SIMS for our business, one of which is in our trailer. We use the Sierra Wireless MP70 instead of the ATT device.

If AT&T has good signal and data service where you'll be, and you're looking for a solution for streaming video/television, consider DirecTV Now. It's not the cheapest monthly service, but it's "zero rated" on AT&T's LTE data service so you actually get unlimited streaming. It doesn't count against the 15 gig/month soft limit. (If you have uverse TV at home you can stream that instead, but if you're living in the Airstream you may not have service at some fixed address so DirecTV Now may be more useful.)

I use it with an iPad and my AT&T hotspot, and I have an Apple Lighting to HDMI adapter that lets me push the video to a TV. (Get the real Apple adapter, most of the cheap 3rd-party ones won't let you stream any HDCP content so they're next to useless.)

We have AT&T with an unlimited plan. How ever they slow the speed down after so many gigs using your personal hotspot. And be careful when changing plans with them, they will tell you what you will get in the new plan but fail to tell you what you loose. We had to change plan three times because of this.

Att

We have settled on a very good solution. We had a WiFi Ranger LTE installed on our roof. This is key, because signals inside all that aluminum are pretty weak. The roof unit is small, with two flexible MIMO wifi antennas, and two very good cellular MIMO antennas inside. The power goes through the data cable. The dealer will wire it to the same location as the Blu-ray, the dinette overhead on our 2017 Tommy Bahama FB. The system includes an internal router inside the trailer to broadcast a private Wi-Fi signal for all your devices and to power the roof unit. One bar on our iPhone inside turns into 5 bars. I can pick up any Wi-Fi in the RV Park, and often from nearby businesses. They state signals from two miles away are possible, but only in perfect conditions. Distant and near cell towers provide the fastest possible cell data throughput.
We use ATT unlimited, have two phones, two iPads, one computer, a roku ultra. We often go over 35GB on the Airstream SIM card and never been slowed down by ATT. They state they MAY slow you down on the device that goes over 22 GB if in a BUSY AREA. Never happed to us so far. I don’t know how much longer this will apply, but we get $25 off a month On ATT TV Now and free HBO because we have an unlimited wireless plan. WiFiRanger LTE costs about $700 and our dealer charged about $500 to install.
