Boosting phone and internet

I get what cell boosters do and think I also understand devices like jet pack with MIMO antennas. Not a full timer, just want to improve cell phone reception for voice and internet for devices like fire TV, IPads. Want to have one cell/ data plan for all devices, not rely on campground WiFi (need secure connection for data).

Wouldn’t a jet pack, antenna booster and Verizon data plan be better than cell booster and using phone hotspot? Better phone reception and faster internet?

Not sure if this is "helpful" but when we lived out in the country where we had marginal cell performance (OK for voice) I tried a Jet Pack and three different boosters that were recommended and the performance for Verizon data was terrible and the boosters did not help at all (Tried many locations from second story office windows and we were on a hilltop). Ended up returning all the equipment and Jet Pack. Hope you have better luck but don't count on it.

That said, we have had pretty decent performance from our Verizon service using cell phones as Hot Spots, and also from our AT&T plan using our GMC Truck WiFi, when we are not far from urban areas on travel.

Several threads currently here on the Forum discussing options...most related to ATT Connect, but they include weBoosta and other options that are not carrier specific to improve overall reception and wifi experience. Including routers and antenna...the weBoost on Amazon seems interesting and several folks are using with good response in boosted signal for both cell and wifi.

WeBoost has worked very well for us in the mountains of Colorado.

I have a WeBoost for my IPhone, too, and it has been great for turning barely anything into usable signal.

Weboost. Two types to consider. 1). For use in a moving vehicle. Advantage is you can use it while driving. Disadvantage is the interior antenna requires your device to be within 3 feet. 2). For use in a stationary RV. Advantage is a better interior antenna with wider range. Disadvantage, can’t use in your vehicle.

Each unit is over $400.

I have a very simple, one device WeBoost that was under $100.

Only for my phone, but it keeps me connected most of the time.

I almost got seasick watching that video.
Decent information, but lazy production.

The go-to people keeping up with tech seems to be:
Mobile Internet Resource Center.

I think it will someday come to fruition:
"When Jeff Bezos offers high speed world wide internet by satellite, he'll rule the world."

The production may not be the best however the information he provides is outstanding and has a lot of solar and battery comparison videos also.
RVmoble is also a great resource. I like there video's as well.
These 2 sources seem to have the most updated info.

Have weboost stationary and use Iphone hot spot. Does a nice job and definitely improves data speed. Main problem is that many rural areas particularly in Alaska have only 3G available instead of 4G LTE. 3G is very slow for most internet use.

Check out Technomadia.com and their YouTube channel. They are always testing new systems and giving reviews. They are nomads via boat, RV, Bus and Van. Here is a link to their website. https://www.technomadia.com/

Looks like the same couple that owns RVmobleinternet also own Technomadia. Makes sense. They seem to have plenty of $$$ tied up in there nomad lifestyle. So they can afford to have pro quality productions as well as excellent content and object reviews.

We use Winegard ConnectT with a Verizon SIM card which adds $20/month as we have unlimited data on our phones.
This can also boost campground WIFI if desired.
The only downside is we only get 15 GB of data for this $.
Hope that helps

We use Verizon for our cell phones and bought the Mifi Jetpack for about $100. They changed our plans to a senior one and our monthly payment did not go up. Verizon just works better for us and we had A.T. And T. for years. We still go over our data limit but it doesn’t slow us down much. I’m going to check into the weBoost.

Hi

It very much depends on where you are.

We have been places that nobody got cell coverage on anything any way they tried. Some of them have been here in PA. We have been places out west where AT&T wiped out Verizon in terms of high speed coverage. ( hint: look for oil wells .....). The WeBoost does help a little. It is far from a cure all in truly remote settings.

Simple answer - there is no simple answer ....

So far, my WeBoost has boosted a weak signal significantly, every time.

It wonít pull signal where there is none, but thatís okay and I plan around it.
