Which TV antenna?

Hi everybody! I have a '64 Tradewind and a husband that LOVES TV! I'm looking for a replacement antenna (nothing left of ours but the exterior "holding" bar and the connector to the interior wiring.) I've searched online and in these forums, but I can't seem to locate the name of the antenna that I think I see on a few of your units. I was hoping someone might be able to tell me the product name and where you got it...? I'm not looking for the batwing style. Instead, it appears to be a straight "car-like" antenna that would mount on the front beside the window. I appreciate your help!!

Hmm... Ours had one of those on it when we got it. It is an OEM part, and as far as I know it is not available. It was missing parts, and didn't work, so I removed it, and if I ever put another one on our trailer, it will be a bat wing type. Here is a photo of the front of our trailer, showing the stump of the ariel:

My Argosy had a sidemount car type antenna as you describe and the crank-up roof TV antenna. I think car type antenna had something to do with radio, though haven't tested it out. FM reception inside the trailer is just fine. Do I guess AM? I recall that the shell interferes with some frequency and it's obviously not FM. I really wonder if converting that one would give you very much for TV reception.

The crank-up roof TV antennas were a miniature version of a housetop antenna. I'd suggest doing a search on keywords: antenna, batwing. See what you find -- I know this has been dealt with in some detail.

The batwing search just might start you early on some Halloween recipes...
