what is this ? female socket in bedroom on 2010 FC

Right above the electric sockets on the driver side of the bedroom there is a plate with a cable input and then above that is a female socket (looks like a cigarette lighter socket). What is that used for and what type of connection is it? This is on a 2010 25' Flying cloud.

12v DC outlet. Don't use it for a cigarette lighter.

That's what it is. Long a standard 12v socket that a 12v plug for a car or truck plugs into.

Lucky you!
I'm changing some of my many USB ports back to 12v. receptacles.
Yours is there because some folks used 12v. TVs.

And use it for:
Razor
Hair clipper
Toothbrush
Small fan
Speaker
Charging electronics
Skillet
Toaster
Kettle
Beverage heater
Heated blanket
Small beverage cooler
Curling iron
Camping lantern
Bug zapper

I'm know I forgot some.

Truck stops have an nice array of 12V devices and appliances.

I sure miss those old 12 volt outlets. Someone in Jackson Center was asleep at the switch when they did away with them.

Lucky, because my 2016 IS 23FB comes with no 12v sockets which comes in handy...

Our 2016 FC did not have one so swapped out one of the USBs in the bedroom. Now with a DC adapter I can run my Cpap on 12v without using the inverter when there is no shore power. Did require a slight upgrade of batteries from stock to two 6v GC 235 ah batteries but now can make in thru the night even when need to run furnace in cooler weather and recharging the next morning for 2-3 hours on small Honda gen eco mode.

Soon after ownership, I added 12V receptacles behind the front and rear corner spotlights on my 2013 Flying Cloud. Mostly for 5V USB adapters but also use it to power backup camera and to charge various items that require 12V.

Temporarily removing the corner speakers made it easy to access the always powered wiring to the spotlights and the Airstream wiring was quite robust to support the 12V receptacle.

I also run my CPAP from one of those sockets. I actually just run it from the 12 volt whether we are on shore power or not. My CPAP is 24 volts so it goes through a converter from the 12 volts.

I kind of enjoy wandering the aisles of very large truck stops to see what other 12 volt appliances are out there. Sure, it's all on the internet, but it's still fun to pick stuff up and look.

12v stuff

Try Amazon - cheaper and an amazing assortment of 12v appliances and other stuff. Lots of things you didin't know you needed.

Yes to Amazon for prices but sometimes you just want the tactile aspect of looking at it and mulling it over.

And the trucks tops, especially the big all inclusive ones, are the place to browse.

It turns out that the 12 V receptacle is far more universal than a universal serial port
