Upgrade 2016 28' Int Serenity

Help - anyone upgraded the "mediocre" Clarion stock sound system in their unit? I would like to replace all of the speakers with same size, higher quality ones, as well as the low quality tuner unit. I'm thinking that a reputable car stereo outfit could do this? anyone tried this? thanks!

Hi

I'd bet you have someplace local that does custom automotive audio. They are the guys to talk to about getting something like this done. If you want to do it yourself, start peaking behind grilles and measuring things. There is a world of stuff out there to use at 12V. If you are happy only running off of 110V, the sky is the limit for the electronics. The Classic in 2017 uses Polk components. I have not yet heard how it sounds. I'm not expecting a lot ....

Did you mean JBL or JL Audio?
Speaker swap is an easy DIY job.
Buy new speakers from a locally owned car stereo store or Amazon or Crutchfield.
Just a phillips head screwdriver...
Your downfall in quality may not be the speakers, but the head unit.
Try getting a new head unit first.
Again, your local car stereo store-
The type of head unit in newer Airstreams is more like the head unit on boats or side-by-sides.
This is also an easy DIY job.

One gotcha (if you are used to a home system) is that the speakers are only just so big. Sitting here looking at the ones in my AS, there is only so much one can do. For low end, size (and mass) does matter on a speaker.

I agree. I have an appointment with a high end car stereo place this week. I will report back as to what he can do with 6 small speakers and limited amplification...I think anything will help.

Double DIN pioneer touch screen with Polk audio speakers. What a difference.

This was in my 25' international. Planning similar upgrade on my new 30' with the crappy clarion head unit and crappy 22watt speakers.
