I posted this earlier, but it seems everyone has forgotten.
Backup camera on the trailer (including a moth)-
Display in the truck with the toggle switch centered-
View when toggle switch is up- truck backup camera-
Toggle switch-
Vie on truck display with toggle switch down- behind trailer-
Truck camera to the left of tailgate handle-
The transfer rate is a bit slow, but you will be backing slowly anyway.
It is still no substitute for getting out and looking 2-3 times or having someone guide you, but it does help.
I use it as a rearview mirror while traveling.

I just installed the system sold by acstokes . I installed it inside, looking out the rear window. Easy installation, the most time consuming part was hard wiring the camera (drilling holes and routing wire to the reading lamp). It is supplied with a cigarette lighter plug, but I didn't want to use it. I've driveway tested it and all seems good. All name brand, heavy duty parts. I'll report from the road next week.

About 2 years ago I bought a mag-mounted wireless hitch cam at Camping World. Initially I used the mag mount to the tailgate of my TV and I placed the monitor (which is about the size of an iPod) on the steering column so I could back up and hitch my AS. Then I got the idea to find a way to use the magmount on the back of the AS - in my case I riveted a small square piece of magnetic type stainless steel to the AS bumper cover. So for backing up solo in unknown spots I can simply attach the cam to the bumper and switch on the monitor. As I recall, the whole deal cost me about $150.

I am very happy with my installation. I finally have a true rear view when traveling. A car passing me on either side shows up in the camera and then the side mirror simultaniously so there's no blind spot. No latency and only minimal split- second dropouts that don't cause any problems.

After all that effort to make the rear view camera show up on the existing navigation screen...
If I am using GPS navigation I lose the rear view camera. Maybe 2 monitors isn't such a bad idea. Sometimes I overlook the obvious and it took me 5 months to realize it-

My car came with camera, at first the was a lot of eye rolling with it, then I put lime green duck tape on my receiver and tape on the roundy part of my hitch and the top of coupler, now when I backup I nail it every time first time easily. The contrast of tape makes it easy.

I've got what I've got and that's what I'll have-
Not using the screen as a rear view mirror while using the navigation screen ain't the end of the world- I never had a camera on a trailer before April-
When I know the way I have a rear view mirror (camera) for the trailer.
When I don't know where I'm going I don't.
On a long stretch of road until the next turn-by-turn direction I can toggle the screen back to rear view-

My iPhone rides right there between the shifter and cup holders. I think that is better than any cradle.
My iPad rides either on top of the console or in the console for security- out of sight, out of mind-

My system isn't exactly the same but I have my camera mounted inside the back window. I screwed the mount into the top of the frame. It's positioned to be centered at the back of the Airstream. I was able to run my cable down the window frame and into the storage compartment in the back.
I would say that the biggest drawback is that the window causes a glare on the camera when driving in the dark. I think if I ever change the location, I'll try to mount it near the license plate to see if that works. My very last choice would be to mount it up high on the back outside, putting holes in the skin.
In my setup, I really only need my camera to cover a limited area behind me. While it's nice to have a full, clear view, for me it isn't worth putting holes in the skin since a lot of the same areas are covered by my mirrors.

As OP of this thread, and as such, my original ANALOG install is well explained up front. Digital wasn't available back then, but I now see a relatively cheap upgrade for me and digital. I have emailed 4UCam today and here's what I found:
iPhone Android iPad WIFI car backup camera
At the bottom of the page, under accessories is listed a
20LED IR Truck Camera
Item#:HT633
Listed $179.99
Now $90.00
This camera is a direct bolt in to the mount I already have in place on the rear of the AS.
40681i WiFi transmitter w/ video adapter
Item#:4068i
$79.99
which is the WIFI transmitter.
By email I was told I would need to get the transmitter closer to my Android phone or Ipad, so I will need:
45 Feet Cable $25.
total: $195
I'm thinking about it....analog system work pretty well, but not perfect, due to 248mHz interference.

I mounted it to the bottom of the cabinet, so it looks out the rear window. I pulled power off of one of the reading lamps.

The camera on the truck is a factory style by the tailgate handle.
The camera on the trailer is mounted with a license plate bracket.

When my daughter got her new car (Hyundai Elantra) a few months ago, I noticed that they have a built-in backup camera which is located just beneath the handle to open to trunk on the top of the license plate. I'm wondering if anyone has successfully mounted one like this where the license bracket/light assembly is on the AS and was able to wirelessly get it to communicate with a smartphone (Adroid or iPhone).

Yes to the license plate mount. Yes to the wireless. No to the phone as a monitor. I use the 7" screen in the truck as a monitor. There is a wireless receiver hidden in the dash/console.

I'm sure someone is using a phone as a monitor. There is talk about it on this thread. Seems like I've seen pictures.
