Do you still find it okay to remove the TV when you travel, or has it become a pain? We have the lovely '70's 1/4 thin laminate wall dividers, and are unsure as to how well traveling with the TV mounted "ON" the mount will be (even strapped in).

The mount we purchased makes it easy to take the tv down for transport. We too have the 1/4 inch walls. We added a 2 x 2 behind for more support. I don't want test our luck and leave it up while on the road.

Richard, one can only dream about finally getting to the cyclo stage. Will this thing ever be finished?

Do you happen to have a link to the one that you purchased? It is some sort of quick-release mechanism that removes it?

Here is the link. It's a nob you unscrew closest to the mount attaching to the tv.

We have this one:
LCD Wall Mount with Articulating Double Arm System | Overstock.com
It has 4 screws that hold the TV to the mount and it takes two minutes to get it attached.

Shawn I had no trouble with the wall supporting the arm and a 22" Vizio through the panel over the fridge in my 72. Drilled three holes through it to mount. I usually took the TV off the mount during travel. Could also rotate the arm into the back room to watch TV in the twin beds.

Thanks...I think that's what we're going to do -- I just didn't think that wall would be able to support it while traveling (although I know plenty of people who do with newer models). At the same time, I don't want it to be a pain having to always unscrew and re-screw something (and risk messing up threads, etc).

I think the three screws balance out the weight of the mount and my wall was secured by the overhead bin and the counter/fridge frame. I usually took the TV off the arm during travel as a precaution but if you create a strap (I used a bungy cable to keep the Vizio secure against the wall) it should be fine.

This is a posting that I posted, spring of 2010, a design that I came up with to mount my receiver and tv. We had traveled 15,000 miles with no problems arising. both receiver and tv never moved while traveling, was very pleased with the design and how it worked out. We travel in 30ft. classic, travels were in western Canada, Alaska and western USA before coming home in the east.

Hi Zep;
I have fabricated a similar removable tv mount. I have welded a square shouldered 3/8" round stock J hook welded to a plate on top end and riveted to a rib in the celling. I have welded a 3/8" ID tube to a SS strap which mounted on back of tv. With the J hook positioned toward side of the trailer I can turn the tv 180 degree and watch it from the center bedroom as well. For travel we box it and place it in overhead storage cabinet. DVD & DVR is mounted close by in the hanging closet under hat shelf. Thanks "Boatdoc"

Total cost $30 including the mount which we found on overstock.com.
Hey there. I noticed in those pics you changed from flip up cabinet doors to tambour. Did you salvage the tambour workings or make your own new?

Maybe I am behind the curve, but I just seen this today for the first time.

Looks like it would spread the mounting touque over a larger area for better support.

Just for an idea.
