TV audio through Fusion RA770
In the 2020s the audio for the tv doesn’t come through the stereo speakers. The RA770 has an optical audio in but the TV in our 23 Globetrotter doesn’t have any audio outputs. If we replace the TV with one that has an optical audio out and ran an optical cord from the tv to RA770, would we need to worry about any latency issues?

Not sure but I used a coax to optical converter and I have almost a 1 second delay.

Digital optical out (from a TV) to digital optical in should not result in any delay. That is pretty much standard for TV audio out today and is, for example, the common connection to a home soundbar.

I had a Sony soundbar system on my home TV. I first tried using the optical out of the TV to the soundbar. The latency was so bad, you'd see lips move. Then you'd hear the speech. Terrible. I had to switch to using the analog input on the soundbar driven by the headphone output on the TV. Some of these DAC units have terrible latency.

On my TV there is a bundle of cables coming out of the wall that includes an audio cable that terminates in two RCA plugs. There is a wire coming out of the TV that has two RCA sockets that plugs into the two RCA plugs. This takes the TV speaker signal to the audio unit that is located in the cabinet above the dinette.
Do you have anything like this behind your TV?

RA770 Latency Fix
I'm not an Airstream owner but rather a Regal boat owner. I came across this thread googling for RA770 audio latency last weekend. I upgraded the Fusion UD655 that came factory-installed to the Fusion RA770. I was furious last weekend when I noticed latency on all inputs, including from the TV using the Optical input as well as on Auxiliary inputs using high-quality audio cables. I emailed Fusion this week and received a response. The Party Bus feature of the RA770 causes the delay. Go into the Settings for each input in which you don't want the delay and disable Party Bus. I did this last night, and the audio is perfectly synced now. Enjoy!

I had an Apple TV, Blu-Ray player and HDMI switch in my 2021 Globtrotter. I added an HDMI audio extractor to send audio to the Fusion optical input. The delay was annoying, but turning off group audio for that input solved the problem! Thank you!

The antenna on my 23FB is so hopeless that I only watch DVD’s. A $15 Techole DAC converter between the BOTL Sony DVD player and the JL MM50 head unit (powered by the JL) gets me sound from my media with no cutting cabinets or pulling wires. To augment the overhead sound and for OTA (I wish) I put a $30 Oontz “sound bar” on the headphone jack of a Sony TV I had laying around the house and installed in place of the BOTL LG set that came with the trailer.
As you can tell, I favor cheap and reversible alterations, but these are enough to make the original entertainment system usable.

We are currently awaiting build on a 2021 25' GT.
What will it have in it to get the sound from the TV to the stereo system?
What will I need to get?
I am almost deaf so I really need the sound through the system...

Render it,
I recommend you communicate your needs with the dealer. If he admits that the 2021 GT system does not have the capability you want, ask him what it would take to get it. I doubt the factory would agree to anything, but the dealer also has the skill and knowledge to do upgrades. If you are a tinkerer, you can do the changes yourself...
Be sure to have the system you are promised demonstrated before you drive off. I suspect A-S gets away with the limited entertainment system functionality because so many purchasers are overloaded with all the other details and just assume that this basic feature will be there when they need it.

That is good advice. We have a 2021 GT 27, and I can almost guarantee it won't have what Renderit is looking for. The TVs are very basic with no audio out that I can see, so even if an additional wire could be pulled from each TV to the Fusion stereo there is nothing to plug it into at the TV end. It is relatively easy to extract sound from the DVD player HDMI output or other devices added to that shelf, but that doesn't help with sound from cable or antenna feeds.

For about $200, you can get sound from at least one television to the head unit. To do it, you need to purchase the following:
1. 24” TV with audio return channel (ARC) (Vizio makes two models; I can confirm that the D-Series 720p will fit the swing arm bracket without any inputs/outputs being blocked)
2. An HDMI Switch/Extractor with ARC compatibility and an optical output (Amazon sells several under about $30)
3. An optical cable
4. An HDMI extension cable
5. A standard HDMI cable
After installing the TV and hooking up the existing HDMI cable between the TV and the wall, you then disconnect the other end of the HDMI cable from the DVD player, plug the extension into that HDMI cable and run it to the output/ARC port of the switch. Next, run another HDMI cable from the DVD player to one of the HDMI inputs on the switch, and finally run an optical cable from the optical out on the switch to the optical in on the Fusion head unit. Works great and you can get audio from any of the TV’s inputs, including the antenna, to the head unit using the existing factory HDMI cable. If you have the Fusion, make sure to switch the PartyBus feature on the optical input to “off” or you will get terrible audio lag.

I wanted to bump this comment, so that anyone else in our position could potentially find it and help solve their problem.
The fusion stereo installed in the airstream classic will not by default allow the tv audio to be heard through the cabin speakers, specifically in the classic 30 (ours is a 2021). The solution is to purchase an optical cable, and then, very importantly, disable the partybus feature on the input in the fusion stereo settings..
I'm still a little disappointed that i had to buy a cable at Walmart and then stew on it for hours to make it work. This should be something airstream figures out for us...

Real easy:
We have a 2021 Globetrotter. I added an Apple TV box to each TV, you can get plastic holsters that allow you to stick the Apple TV to your TV and connect via a short hdmi cable.
The Fusion 770 audio system is Apple Airplay enabled. We have a wifi system in our Airstream and all devices connect to it. Basically I can now switch each TV to use the AirPlay audio functionality and have cinema sound whenever I want - no audio delay whatsoever.
Also, you can simply play music from your iPhone / iPad / Mac directly to the Fusion.

We have a bundle (Pepwave Transit Duo modem + Poynting MIMO antenna) from Mobilemusthave.com. There’s a whole post I wrote on our setup.

drnate thanks for the party bus instruction. That was the cause of the audio delay I was experiencing and I doubt I would have found this fix.

Optical Cable Routing
I have hooked the fusion to the Samsung TV (both standard issue 2021 Classic items in my Airstream) with an optical cable, disabled the party bus and it works. Can anyone give me a hint on how they ran the cable? It looks like it could follow the existing cables but its all rather inaccessible. Seems like the easiest thing would be to remove the panel next to the TV where the antenna plug is mounted. Has anyone done this successfully??
