The TV antenae on my unit is original. I tried to lower it this past fall and it felt like something stripped. As I turned the crank, the antenae would not lower. Fortunately I didn't have to tow it very far for storage.
The trailer is stored 500 miles from me and would like to know what parts might be required to fix it.
Gordon,
You most likely have the Skyliner and have stripped the plastic gears. They don't last forever. You need the plastic worm and worm gear and they are still available as a kit.

Gordon,
I am in the process of replacing the gears on our Skyliner antennae. Just waiting on the weather to clear. I ordered a new kit from Marksrv.com for $6.07 that fit perfectly. The only problem so far is trouble removing the stainless steel pin that holds the worm gear. Having to drill it out with a special hard tip bit.
Good luck,
Dan
P.S. I saw a kit like the one I ordered sell on ebay last month for $24.00 plus shipping. You got check around.
You do not have to remove the entire unit. Just remove the round clips that hold the main round hinge pin and the pin that holds the worm gear. New clips come in the kit as well as worm gear rolled pin. Basically, just replace everything that comes in the kit. There's a drawing on the back of the package that shows how everything comes apart.

A low hanging branch pulled my skyliner sideways and stripped the gears (after towing 300 mi to home I brushed a tree limb in my driveway when I pulled in!).
I just ordered the gear kit. So I don't have to remove anything from the inside at all? It installs from the roof on the outside?
Also, I have put a 75 ohm converter on my amplifier. There are three leads coming out of the amplifier - the little converter has two leads - which two of the three on the amplified are the "for sure" connections? I never have gotten this antenna to work for much, so I must be doing something wrong.
I found the kit first try ($9.99 Canadian) where I buy all my parts to keep this A/S operating. They usually have be to be ordered in. I was truly surprised. So surprised I think I''ll have a beer.
